Every time I play lacrosse I feel like I am a part of something greater than myself. Being a part of something greater than myself, being changed in my life forever has made me think and feel whenever I play lacrosse. When I was younger playing lacrosse was a learning experience. Playing with more skilled or less skilled girls in lacrosse and playing different positions except for one every game, practice and scrimmage all the time makes me get a different perspective. Playing lacrosse for quick sticks has changed my life forever.
Playing lacrosse in 6th grade made me want to play it now and in the future. Lacrosse in 6th grade made me like to run and love the sport everywhere I go. It made me want to play the sport now and in the future because it makes me think that I am being used in practices, games, and scrimmages. Lacrosse has helped me today by running faster in basketball, getting the ball lower in volleyball and getting the ball quicker in field hockey in gym class. Lacrosse has changed me as a person to work together on other sports on teams, work together in small or big groups on projects and say something positive to teammates on sports and for my friends.

Quick sticks have helped me with my lacrosse skills, teamwork skills, and running skills. Playing with a team on quick sticks made me want to play for my school because I thought I would meet new friends, meet new teachers, and enjoy school even more. Comparing two very different sports, Cheerleading .vs. lacrosse. Out of the two sports Lacrosse is more athletically challenging and competitive sport. While cheerleading is also a athletically inclined sport it does not require as much training. I personally prefer to play lacrosse because I like to be involved and more active. By the end of this paper I will prove that lacrosse is the better sport.

Soccer and lacrosse are obviously two different sports , but in a way they are both very similar to each other. Similarly, they both use a ball for their main part of the game.They use the ball to bring it down the field and a try to score on the opposing team. Another similarity is that they both have goalkeepers to help protect the ball from not going in on the team's side. They both stand in their goal box and they are able to bring it down field if they want. Lacrosse is the oldest team sport in North America, having been played by Native American tribes long before any European had even set foot on the continent. A century after European missionaries discovered the game played by Native Americans, they began to play it themselves, starting in the 18th century. From there, it evolved and grew in popularity from a very savage game that resembled war, into what it is today, a recreational sport played widely in America and other countries. Inspired by his dad, who played baseball in high school and college, he started playing tee-ball. He played tee-ball until two things happened, one he thought it was extremely boring and two, his team did awful. As more of my teammates began to show up, I recognized most of them. However, I learned later that if I went on to play in the Spring, this would not be the same exact team I would play with. With only twenty minutes until we began,I put on all of my gear and my dad gave me a thorough warm up. Time seemed to fly by, and before I knew it, everyone was gathered together as positions were being assigned. I was originally overwhelmed with excitement, but as the game drew closer, the joy I had felt was replaced with anxiety. My dad would always tell me it’s not good to play video games, because they cannot help you, but baseball can help you succeed in life. This really changed my view on what baseball potentially has. I became more dedicated and committed to the sport, Baseball. I never played any other sport, and I started progressively doing more baseball each year. I have tried extremely hard to keep playing baseball, because it will come to an end at some point, but hopefully it will be later in my life instead of sooner.
In my life, I had not had the chance to be a part of something that influenced me much, until I joined football my freshman year in high school. Joining football was perhaps the most devoted and wisest thing that I did because shortly after joining I began to see changes for the better, and from then I saw the person that I wanted to be in the future. In other words, it shaped the person that I am today and will be for the rest of my life. Not only did the sport influence me but it also equipped me with a new mindset that affects me today in my decision making skills, time management and many other beneficial life virtues. I believe that these virtues will bring me success in the nearest future because I feel confident about myself and I feel more in control in my life through my actions, all thanks to simply joining what seemed to be a “regular” extracurricular.
My whole life I have played a sport. Whether that be soccer, or lacrosse, or field hockey. Playing a sport and being a part of a team was something I always knew how to do. I always knew how to play the sport as a team and not score on your own. My lacrosse team consisted of about 18-19 girls: 6 offenders, 6 defenders, 2 goalies, and the rest were mid-fielders. My favorite position was mid-fielder, I always enjoyed playing all the part that consisted of being on the team. I loved playing both defense and offense, I liked assisting with goals and I also loved stopping goals. My travel team taught me things that I did not learn anywhere else, my team taught me the true importance of teamwork, how to be a leader, or how winning is not always the most important thing.
I have always been involved in sports in some way or another. I was team captain in every sport imaginable in elementary school. Junior high I continued to be involved in sports, but it wasn't until high school started that I really got into it. I played soccer, softball and basketball at Rogers High School. I particularly loved soccer. Just playing it gave me a rush I had never felt before. Also knowing that this sport took a lot of hard work and dedication gave me a sense of satisfaction, because I knew that I put everything I had into it. Putting a lot of dedication and hard work into something may prove to be useful in the future.
Adaptive Lacrosse is a program that helps athletes with either physical or intellectual disabilities play the sport of lacrosse (“Diversity and Inclusion”). The disabled athletes who are part of Adaptive Lacrosse still have almost the same conditioning and training as non-disabled to keep them involved, however a few modifications are added to the program (“Diversity and Inclusion”). WLUSA is the leader of all the wheelchair lacrosse groups in the United States and it helps physically challenged athletes get involved with lacrosse (“Diversity and Inclusion”). WLUSA has helped create over twelve organizations for wheelchair lacrosse and physically challenged athletes across the United States (“Diversity and Inclusion”). Ryan Baker, who is the co-founder of WLUSA said that they have tried to bring the field lacrosse game to wheelchairs as best as possible (Berman). Even veterans enjoy wheelchair lacrosse because it does not just provide physical activities for the veterans but it gives the veterans an outlet
When thinking of my activities, the first thing that comes to mind is lacrosse. Lacrosse has been a huge part of my life since the moment I picked up a stick. Lacrosse caught my attention because it was a challenge to get better daily. Throughout my whole life, lacrosse was my main passion and made me strive to get better. My freshman year of high school, I was the only freshman named to the varsity roster. The following year, the leaders of the team all graduated, so I decided it was my turn to establish myself as a leader on the team. Junior year, I was named team captain, and lead the team back into the WPIAL playoffs for the first time since my freshman year. That season, I was the team leader in both goals and assists. Hockey. A sport I have always loved ever since I was a kid. It was when my dad had taken me to an open ice skate when my hockey life began. I had my first pair of skates as a present when I was four years old. I never really knew of the sport at the time, but now I was able to expirence it. No one was present on the ice as I entered the rink. The cold of the ice ran down my back as I took my first steps on. The cold didn’t stop me though. As I stepped upon the ice, I had a feeling of relief. Hockey is what let me go fast. Always have I been the fastest kid in my class and hockey let me expand on what I loved to do. One stride at a time I went, until I was able to glide upon the ice. My blades of my skates sunk into the ice like a lion tearing at its prey. As the frost beat against my face, I soon realized that I was able to skate. Even though it was all fuzzy in my memory, I remember feeling all types of joy rush all throughout my body. It was the first sign of potential in hockey. It was a first omen.
It can also help you gain working skills like leadership or working great with others, which in every job you have to communicate or do things with co-workers. Sports help you develop discipline, learn to set goals and then work to achieve those goals. Kid’s who are involved in sports are less likely to take drugs or smoke because they realize that those harmful things can affect their performance and for girls who play sports are also less likely to become pregnant or get to other troubles. One of things that I mostly like is that helps you use your time wisely. I learn how to manage my everyday life schedule, like how much time I should put on school, soccer, and others thing I needed to do.
I have now been playing this sport for 10 years. My goal was to do something I loved while being able to learn new skills (physically and mentally). For four of those years I played on rep teams for the Vancouver Thunderbirds. On these teams I learned commitment, from waking up at 5 am for a practice to having tournaments in Seattle, I was always there. After four years of training and learning how to represent the association, I decided to move down to the house league for the next five years due to the fact that I wanted to focus on school. On my house teams, I was voted as captain for all of them and got to learn how to lead and inspire a team. I learned that it wasn’t about being the best but being able to bring the strengths of my teammates together. This allowed my teams to play for the championship for the next 5 years (huh?? awkward wording) . I was able to take these experiences from hockey and apply it to school. I took my skills such as leadership and self discipline and applied it to my sports teams and school to push my team and myself. Lastly, I took my commitment and placed it at Maple Grove Elementary School and Magee where I coached a basketball team and volleyball
