In the second discussion, we broke down the functions of our three branches, legislative, executive and judicial. The primary function of the legislative branch would be to make and pass laws and creates budgets, while the executive branch enforces laws, and the judicial branch ensures that the constitution is followed. The legislative branch would remain mostly the same, being bicameral. House representatives would serve up to five terms of two years each while the term limits for the senate remain the same. The executive branch is similar to the United States as the term limits are the same, but in regards to military action, as Chief Commander, the president is allowed 180 days to propose a war to Congress or bring the troops back. The judicial department would be the same as the United States, except there would be a degree requirement of some form of government context to be in the Supreme Court, which has a life-long term …show more content…

We decided to mirror the basic functions of the United States three branches because it makes for a very clear separation of power. The terms of the House representatives are changed to put a limit on how long they can be in office to allow for new faces to come in more often, 10 years’ max, as it would be diversifying the house. In the electoral branch, we decided to change the amount of time the president has to bring back troops before getting Congresses approval. This is necessary to uphold separation of power. It could be dangerous to send troops out for 60 days and bring them right back because our country would not be taken seriously. The functions of the judicial branch would remain the same, with the exception of an education requirement in the field of government or history. The reason for this is because if someone is representing our constitution, we need to be sure that they have a clear knowledge of government in our
