Transcendentalism is where people feel empowered and their surroundings surpass their five senses. Where intuition and imagination overpower logic and reason. There are five tenets that go along with transcendentalism: non conformity, self-reliance, free thought, confidence, and importance of nature. Whitman is saying that even though the hawk was judging him, he isn’t going to change for the hawk and will keep doing and speaking how he wants. Dreamer is saying that she wants to know if you know yourself and if you’re open to what life has given you of if you’re closed off from the world while Whitman is saying that when he is dead, he becomes apart of nature everywhere.
