In the world we live in today, many people claim that racism against white people exists. Ever since the early 1600s, racism in general has been a problem for many people. However, there may be different types of situations that white people are put in to be considered ‘racist’. The definition of racism is “racial prejudice or discrimination against a person”. The term that many people use that carries the definition “racism towards a supposedly superior race” is reverse racism. Many people claim that reverse racism does not exist; however, the fact is that some situations that whites are put in are under the category of reverse racism.
To start off with, for many years whites have been seen as the superior race. From slavery to even trying to eliminate blacks and those who support them, blacks have always been seen as an inferior race. In the early 1600s, African slaves were brought to the British colony of Jamestown, Virginia. Throughout the years, more and more African slaves were brought to North America and put to work in the plantations where they farmed tobacco, rice, and indigo. The protestors marched through the Student Union while chanting and disrupting the peace around the college campus. Non-protestors, both the ones that agreed with the protest and disagreed, all claimed that it was not okay to “disturb the peace of others.” This protest was impulsive and angered many of the non-protestors because the majority of them preferred to stay out of the situation. Their main goal was just to attend college for their education; however, it did not matter to the protesters because they believed that in order to get their message across they had to punish everyone who did not protest with them
