Racism represents discrimination or being prejudice directly against someone of a differing race based on the beliefs that their own race is higher-up. In today's society racism has gotten out of control . And needs to be stopped immediately because it can lead to people feeling as of they are a minority within a majority as well as getting the fear of being judged by other people. To clarify, there are many challenges in managing a life between two different cultures, including the fear of getting judged and feeling like a minority within a majority. In the book The Absolutely Diary of a Part-Time Indian, by Sherman Alexie, Junior was seeing himself as a minority in his new school almost as if he does not belong. Junior went to a new school out of nowhere not knowing anyone and is feeling completely scared and not knowing how his first day is going to go. You start believing that you’re poor because you’re stupid and ugly. And then you start believing that you’re stupid and ugly because and Indian. As shown, Junior starts to believe that he deserves to be poor practically giving up on himself because of his race which is untrue but he still assumes it because the majority excludes him.
