"Power tends to corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely" - Lord Action. In "The Crucible" composed by Arthur Miller control, power, fear and greed were the main factors that began the Salem witch trails. Power brings out the true nature of a person and we see that happening to Abigail throughout the play. That brings me to my next point fear, Abigail used the fear of accusing people of being witches to gain power and control. It all started with Abigail misunderstanding lust for love. John Proctor thought softly of her and she began dreaming of replacing his wife willing to go to any needs necessary.

He was the only one who knew that everything Abigail was doing, was in fact to get him to lover her and nothing she said about the witches was true. Along side John Proctor was Mr. Hale who also knew the girls were lying and this led him to quit the court because he knew it was controlled by the Devil her self Abigail. In the end John Proctor gave his own life so the hundreds of other people sitting in jail would get another truthful chance and Proctor himself would have his goodness now.

In conclusion The Crucible has many themes in it and many we can learn from. My main focus was on one person wanting something from some one els. In The Crucible Abigail wanted John and she was willing to do anything needed to accomplish that. Sometimes in life we need to focus on how we achieve something and not how much a person achieves. Maybe if Abigail knew that she would of come clean in the first place and took her punishment being a honest person and not ruining the lives of everyone in
