This is usually a bigger topic for minorities such as blacks, Asians, and Hispanics, who seem to think that cops have it out for them. Cops simply do their job and sometimes that includes using force. An example of this would be in the case of Tamir rice. Police brutality has been a recent topic this year with many protests occurring in response to these brutal acts. Protests against police brutality have been happening around the world recently. These protests try to get the police to be less rough when arresting people and be less likely to reach for their gun in an unarmed situation. People in the U.S. and Israel are protesting police brutality and inequality, so the threat of people being injured or killed by police diminishes.

There are quite a few cases involving police brutality going on today. The reason it is such a hot issue is due to the violence against minorities, but especially the African Americans. Police brutality is defined as “the unnecessary force by police officer against citizens, resulting in injury” (Peak, 1947, p. 162). That is the most worldwide view of police brutality because a lot of individuals are either injured or killed while the police are trying to apprehend them. The way this issue can be addressed if we look at, is it excessive force or acceptable force and what can be done to prevent people dying by the hands of the police.
Police brutality has been a significant issue for many years.. The people affected by this most of all, are people of color. They are subject to racial inequality by the police and the justice system every day. They are being killed everyday simply for existing. The excessive force used by the police specifically towards African Americans is continuous; with the justice system doing close to nothing to change that. This is one of the reasons they continue to kill and harass African Americans. According to Propublica, young black males are about twenty times more likely to be shot and killed by the police than their white peers are. Murderers are walking free, and innocent lives are being taken. Over the past couple of years, thousands of people have been killed on the hands of the police, both black and white.
A great deal of society views law enforcement officers as heroic and honorable individuals, whose main purpose is to protect and serve the community. For years, minorities have fallen victim to police brutality based on racial profiling, stereotypes and other unjustifiable reasons that has cost innocent lives. The involvement of officers in police brutality against minority groups causes tainted and negative views on policing. This reduces their ability to protect and serve the community. The three key deaths of Eric Garner, Philando Castile, and Alton Sterling have become the face of police brutality in the year 2016. People knew that it was unequal treatment of black people by police in the United States and they made it known by creating #BlackLivesMatter.

Yet, that does not justify the fact that an officer should be able to use deadly force on anyone because of their size or even because they are resisting arrest. Without a sign of endangerment, a police officer should not be able to use deadly force. Some people may disagree on the fact that officers should be able to use deadly force no matter what the circumstance is, but if there is not an physical harm being done then police should not be able to use deadly force. However, some people might wonder when is force reasonable? This determination comes down to the officer before using any force. Generally, the use of force is usually necessary when someone is resisting arrest, detain a suspect, or to protect others.
