“Romeo and Juliet” probably one of the most famous and tragic stories of all time. The author, William Shakespeare brings us two families: the Montagues and Capulets who share a divine enmity towards each other. But one day two star crossed loves named Romeo and Juliet born rivals but raised lovers come over all adversity and fall madly in love with each other. As deep as their love is it can easily be described as light and dark. Love, hate, light, dark, sun, moon, Montagues, and Capulets pure opposites that describe this story.
Light in the story can represent; love, happiness, and hope worlds light up as romeo and Juliet fall madly in love with each other. In the story Lets take it to when Romeo first sees Juliet and says, “The brightness of her cheek, would shame those stars, as daylight doth a lamp” (II, ii, 19). Juliet’s so beautiful and so bright in his eyes, that now the stars seem invisible and she's all he sees. Another example of light used in the beautiful story takes place before Romeo meets Juliet and is in love with another fair maid named Rosaline, sadly Romeo learns that she does not like him. In our story as happy as Romeo and Juliet my be, darkness will meet up with their light. It all starts when Romeo and Juliet are together but then realize something as the author says “More light and light- more dark and dark our woes” (III, v, 36). Realizing that the more they see each other, the worse It’ll make cause trouble with their hated families. Then finally when after Romeo’s banished from the town and hears that Juliets dead the author writes “Like death when he shuts up the day of life” (IV, i, 101). Implifying that he has now given up on everything and scorns his life as now his lover and his purpose is gone and feels only one true emotion: rage.
