Elie Wiesel remembers a moment where Mrs.schachter a women who had gotten separated from her family was yelling for the jews to look at the “flames”. Elie then states that “she received several blows to the head blows that could have been lethal”. These inhumane acts that the jewish people have been through have gotten them to be inhumane to each other like when they beat Mrs.schachter. Throughout the book Night there are several recurring themes such as inhumanity can cause inhumanity and survival instincts. Inhumanity is a cruel thing that no one should ever go through it can leave a person mentally permanent scars; or allow them to think that doing this is an ok thing to do in situations like this. Elie had thought that he got trampled and then he remembered that he was the boy running next to him that had stomach cramps and fell. This is an example of survival instincts because the boy didn't want his father around him anymore. This also shows that the boy only wanted himself to survive more than he wanted his father to stay with him. Elie than states ¨oh god, master of the universe give me the strength never to do what rabbi Eliahu´s son has done.¨ This shows that Elie doesn't want to forget about his father. It's not normal for people to give lethal blows to someone who won't be quiet especially to a women. Throughout night there are several different themes such as inhumanity can cause inhumanity and survival instincts. He was still alive when I passed in front of him. His tongue was still red, his eyes were not yet glazed." This is also very inhumane example since the child's weight wasn’t enough to snap his neck when he was hung and so he is slowly dying painful death as all Jewish people walk by him, being forced to watch the cruelty.
