Treatment Of Blindness Like a deer in headlights, blind and lost, will lead to misdirection from the truth. In the novel “ The Great Gatsby” by F. Scott Fitzgerald is a Historical Fiction book. The story takes place in New York during the American Dream in the 1920s. The characters in the story are blinded, all seeing, and find treatment from the blindness by their own perception of reality. Gatsby and Tom Buchanan both are blinded by the smoke in their eyes. Gatsby is driven by his dream of daisy “he stretched out out his arms toward the dark water in a curious way...distinguished nothing except a single green light; minute and far”(Fitzgerald 20). Gatsby is trying to reach and hold onto his expectations of having daisy. The smoke in his eyes prevent him from seeing the reality of daisy has changed. Nick talks about Gatsby's house representing death “ The east was haunted for me like that, distorted beyond my eyes power of correction”(Fitzgerald 176). Nick Describes the blindness of Gatsby Creating everything for daisy, but reveals in reality not everything lives up to its expectations.
