In June Robison’s article,”Frosty’s story illustrates scope of animal cruelty”, she argues that animal cruelty is wrong and attempts to persuade the reader to feel sympathy for animals. Animal cruelty is indeed wrong and it must stop. The author made some strong points in her editorial; however, she left out several substantial sources. This evaluation will review Robison’s article and state the main points.
While evaluating Robison’s paper, it seemed like a very opinionated article. She shares her first personal experience of animal cruelty. Robison is very compassionate towards animals and she demonstrates this by telling how she fosters neglected cats. The author makes her point very clear that she is an animal lover. This articles purpose is to inform people about the animal cruelty that goes on in this world. Although well-articulated, her points were often unsubstantiated.
Animal cruelty is often related to other types of violence. Robison mentioned in her editorial that, "most serial killers have killed or tortured animals in the past.” Though the author proclaims that animal cruelty is linked to serial killers, Robison failed to state some proving sources and background on her finding. The following source presents clear evidence of this strong fact, “A study done by North Eastern University and the Massachusetts SPCA found that people who abuse animals are five times more likely to abuse humans than people who do not” (“The Link Between Animal Abuse and Serial Killers” 1). Serial killers begin killing animals before they torture bigger victims such as humans.

...he ASPCA (American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals) is a humane organization that works to prevent animal cruelty and fight to rescue the lives of neglected animals. The Humane Society of the United States is a similar organization that fights for the rights of animals.
In this article Robison makes her point that animal cruelty is wrong and that people should be more aware of it. Although she failed to apply reliable sources in her article, her main points clearly show her strong focus on the value of animals. All caring people must surely agree that protecting animal life is a noble endeavor.

Considering the many challenges animals face in the wild, it is understandable that people may be eager to support zoos and may feel that they are protective facilities necessary for animal life. In the article “ Zoos Are Not Prisons. They Improve the Lives of Animals”, Author Robin Ganzert argues that Zoos are ethical institutions that enrich the lives of animals and ultimately protect them. Statistics have shown that animals held in captivity have limited utilitarian function resulting in cramped quarters, poor diets, depression, and early death for the animals thus, proving that Zoos are not ethical institutions that support and better the lives of animals as author Robin Ganzert stated (Cokal 491). Ganzert exposes the false premise in stating
Some of the traits most male serial killers have as a child include killing animals, auto-erotic activities, physical head injuries, and even bed wetting. The reason why killing animals is very common among serial killers is because it gives young killers great pleasure in knowing they have control over someone’s or something’s life.... ... middle of paper ... ...

In “A Change of Heart about Animals”, by Jeremy Rifkin, he attempts to argues that we should protect animals because of the suffering and pain they experience. While merely glazed at the surface, this article does point out that animals do experience pain, but while dissected at a deeper level, Rifkin’s hypocrisy is exposed.
Violence has become a major problem for not only the U.S, but also the world. An example of violence within the U.S is the story of the Craigslist murderer, Miranda Barbour. Violence doesn’t just occur with humans. Sadly, it has been put on animals as well. All around the world, Japanese whaling is happening.
As an advocate of animal rights, Tom Regan presents us with the idea that animals deserve to be treated with equal respect to humans. Commonly, we view our household pets and select exotic animals in different regard as oppose to the animals we perceive as merely a food source which, is a notion that animal rights activists
For this project I will be fully researching and sharing my thoughts, opinions and knowledge on the affects humanity has on animals. I will be talking about how we keep animals in captivity in places such as the famous sea life amusement park “SeaWorld” and its controversial effects on Orcas – commonly known as Killer Whales. As well as this I will also be talking about animal testing. Throughout this assignment I will be sharing cold hard facts and disturbing information about the captivation of animals as well as showing the benefits and how it educates young people, although my main goal for this topic is to explain why humanity should change their treatment towards animals for the better.
“There can be many reason for animal cruelty, like any other form of violence, is often committed by a person who feels powerless, unnoticed, or under control of others. Some who are cruel to animals copy acts what they have seen or that have been done to them, others see harming an animal as a safe way to get revenge against--or threaten-- someone who cares about that animal”. (“Animal… Statistics”) Concerns towards abusing animals have gone up in the past. Although there are not many cases on animal abuse, many have occurred. Abusers are charged with Criminal Animal Abuse and then sentenced to life in prison. Some animals that are physically abused are sometimes rescued by Animal Control, and are taken it to an animal shelter. However, many shelters have not had the space to keep the animals so the workers would have to put them down (Carol Roach). Researchers have shown that the main animals getting abused are dogs, chickens, horses, and livestock (“Animal...
He teaches people to understand the link between animal violence and domestic violence. He tells them, “It is part of a larger nexus of crimes and the psyche behind them.” His words echo those in his field around him. The awareness of animal cruelty is changing in the modern world and the mindset is shifting to one that is more respectful of animal lives.
The ugly truth is that animals are dying at the hands of their owners everyday, some in very violent ways that can be avoidable given the right solution. Slaughterhouses, puppy mills, dog fighting, and so on, are just a few examples of how animals are being treated badly by people. Animal cruelty is a form of violence which, un...

Towards animal welfare comes the aspect of animal cruelty. Animal cruelty is a fairly recent subject that has affected society. Animal cruelty has now shown comparisons through human abused households. The concern is recent because as society changes humans attitudes change which now affects towards animals. Animal welfare is used to help animal cruelty, because decreasing the violence between animals and humans can help the regulations of animal welfare. Research and testing have become more prominent and a strong concern to the public on the treatment on animals. Many activists today are trying to change the view people see toward the animal they have as a companion. Ethical issues are the many concerns about animals and the question always asked is,”who has the right to control the animal?”
