Social media are computer mediated technologies to share information, ideas, or ant interest of expression via virtual communities and networks. Many people use social media these days. Social media also give so mant pros and cons to human life.

There are a lot of bad words, pictures, or videos in social media and we can find it accidentally. For people who can’t let it go, or maybe search it more, it can disturb their mindset and make it bad for their future. Also they can bring that bad habit to their real life.
The third is cybercrime. Common types of social media is hacking, online scams and fraud, identity theft, attacks on computer system, etc. The hackers will hack or send viruses to the victim computer to get the data, so they can manipulate it. The effect of cybercrime can be extremelly upsetting for the victims and not necessarily just for financial reasons, but also the victim may feel that their privacy has been violated, and they are powerless to do anything.
The forth is social media might disturb people mental – health. It is because people can do bullying in social media to others. Bullying in social media can be like giving someone bad comments, and edit someone pictures carelessly and post it to social media, etc. The victim mat geel bad, keep thinking about the comment, and they can feel stress because of it. The third is social media can make us keep in touch with our old friend or relatives. The example is when we have family or friends that live abroad, we still can communicate with them through social media. We can send them messages to know about their life or we can use video call to see their face. The other example is when we have friend but we rarely or never meet them after a long time, we can try to search their name on social media, if they have social media. We can find them easily, because many people have social media right now.
So, that’s all the pros and cons about social media, and we know social media has a lot of cons. I will not prohibit people not to use social media, but i will not recommend people to use social media either. For people who already use social media, they have to use social media wisely to avoid bad or negative things happen to their real life. While social media has plenty of advantages, it also has disadvantages that often times get ignored. As Internet users, it is important to examine these disadvantages and make sure we understand the negative sides to social media.
Social media as defined by dictionary.com is “websites and other online means of communication that are used by large groups of people to share information and to develop social and professional contacts”. People use social media for networking, education, and entertainment. Some of today’s popular social media sites include Facebook, twitter, pinterest, instagram, vine, YouTube, and LinkedIn. Facebook is used as a basic social media site. People can share pictures, videos, and “status updates” to let people know how they are doing or exciting things going on in that person’s life. Twitter can is similar to Facebook, but updates are limited to one hundred – forty characters. YouTube is a site specifically made to share videos, which is its only function. Vine is used to share 6 second video clips, instagram is a picture sharing website, that just recently allowed sixteen second videos to be shared. LinkedIn is used for employers to find prospective employees and vice versa.
Today social media has become a big influence on society. There are many different social media sites that allow people to interact with others. Such social media sites are Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram. There are many more different sites, but these are the popular networks that are being used today. These sites allow you to connect with anybody you want to. Social media sites can make you feel connected with others and seem like the best thing, but at the same time it can be a weakness that many of us have.

What most teens don't realize is that what they do on social media now can affect them for the rest of their life. It can even come back to haunt you in the future. Social media is dangerous because it makes it easier to be stalked, identity theft to happen, kidnappings and murders, and also can ruin your future.
