Collaborates with the maintenance department to ensure that athletic grounds and facilities are properly maintained. Serves as the primary school division decision-maker for all athletic events. Collaborates with the community and school booster organizations to ensure that morale and support for athletics is high at all times. The few cons of a career as an athletic director are that you may have an erratic work schedule, may have heavy workloads at the beginning of sports seasons, and you have to be skilled in a variety of areas such as finances, management, and coaching. Why I am Suited for this Career? I have a sports background because of my sports participation in golf, baseball, basketball, football, and soccer. I took a sports management class my senior year in high school.
Physical Education Teacher Description- Physical education teachers’ help children develop physical abilities and healthy habits that can last for the rest of their lives. Becoming a physical education teacher also means you teach the students’ knowledge and skills of the sports they play in class.
The job outlook for the physical education teacher job market is expected to grow by 12.2% between 2012 and 2022. This increase is pretty close to the rate the athletic director field is supposed to increase. The training and skills necessary to enter the field are a Bachelor’s degree which is common in most states but some states require a master’s degree.
