Impact of World War I
The First World War took place between 1914 to 1918.It was a surprise to many and left many questions than answers to the problems that those who caused it sought to answer. It was a different form of war compared to the kind of wars that used to happen at that time. It was more brutal and violent. Prior to the start of this war, most of the then major world societies had experienced a revolution. The war left many people questioning on the future of the world at a time when there was many inventions. The inventions include electricity and the telephone among others. Most people believed the idea that humans were capable of destroying themselves.
This war as referred by some people was indeed a great war. It affected all the nations of the world, from Europe to Africa. Today its effects are still felt. It was mainly among Britain, Austria, United States, Germany, Russia and France. These nations mobilized masses in other countries to fight against their enemies. There was political reformation in the whole world. The war is believed to have been greatly fueled by religious differences. Most of the political reformation was on religious grounds. Serbia matched with Russia as they shared the same doctrines, Croatia joined forces with Austria. Bosnia supported the Ottoman Empire. The war was catalyzed when Germany declared its support for Austria against the Serbs. This angered Russia and awakened British and French. Treaties were formed and the result was Europe being divided into two blocs. France Britain and Russia came to fight against Germany, Italy and Austria. Diplomacy disappeared and it was all about war.

The war temporary taught the world that the road to peace was not through war but through peace. As a result the six major nations that were behind the war entered into peace treaties and peace and normalcy slowly returned in most regions though a few regions remained volatile. At this time most people were tired of fighting and some resulted to end the war not because they were satisfied but because they were tired of that kind of life.
The First World War greatly impacted the world negatively especially upon the soldiers who witnessed horrible scenes which cannot be explained. Its effect is felt up to today. Various deadly weapons used during this period like bombs continue to be recovered in all over the world. These weapons still pose a challenge to the world a century after they were manufactured.
As we move into the Twentieth Century the similarities are almost identical. The First World War has shaped not only modern warfare but even produced global attention to the brutal and inhumane death toll of the war. As stated in the Geneva Protocol, which prohibited the use of chemical weapons in warfare, which was signed in 1925? While this was a welcomed step, the Protocol had a number of significant short comings, including the fact that it did not prohibit the development, production or stockpiling of chemical weapons.
Although The war did not accomplish any of the things that it started out to accomplish, it became a turning point in American history. Most of the issues that America started out fighting for disappeared shortly after the war, just about the same time that the indirect effects of the war were beginning to become noticeable. These direct effects mainly centered around impressment and blockades, while the indirect effects dealt mainly with the rise of Andrew Jackson, William Henry Harrison, and the decline of the Federalists. In 1914, with the assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand and his wife from Austro-Hungarian Empire caused an enormous war called World War I, that killed and injured about thirty million lives. It also destroyed the economy later on. World War I changed combat tactics in a whole new way, where people would die in a blink of an eye. Commanders and soldiers did not know about the capabilities of their new arsenals. The new industrialized developed weapons devastated the battlefield with blood, mountain of corpses, and small craters. Some of the weapons that were used were machine guns, poison gas, mortars, and tanks. Soldiers described the battlefield as a nightmare. This was the start of a new era arising through warfare. A very dangerous way to bring great change to the world but was not intended. World War I brought great changes to the world but, considering the countless deaths, it was the worst war ever, an inhumane war.
World War 1 was the First World War and it happened in Europe it lasted from July 28, 1914, to November 11, 1918.Many people died and many people were let traumatized, over fifteen million people killed and twenty million wounded. The assassinations made Europe mad because they didn't know who did it and began to fight. Europeans wanted a balanced power, Alliances started to form. World War I, was not only a dispute among nations, but also affected thousands of people from all over the world, including African Americans, women, and even business and economic changes. African Americans endured a great amount of racism during the war, especially from the military.
The result of World War II had tragic results for Japan, Germany, and also Italy. The United States and the Allies came out victorious once again but the cost of war greatly affected all the countries. Germany, Japan, and Italy now have more debts to pay and also lost much of their territory once again. The war took many lives and also ended up destroying many beautiful cities. World War II showed how not just the soldiers were affected in the war, but everyone in all the different countries were affected by the war.

It was the first conflict in which modern industrialized societies mobilized their complete economic, technological and psychological resources in order to wage war. Unlike earlier wars, which involved relatively small numbers of soldiers on the battlefield, it affected many aspects of the lives of civilian populations and demanded enormous sacrifices and support from them. "Everywhere in the world was heard the sound of things breaking." Advanced European societies could not support long wars or so many thought prior to World War I. They were right in a way. The societies could not support a long war unchanged. The First World War left no aspect of European civilization untouched as pre-war governments were transformed to fight total war. The war metamorphed Europe socially, politicaly, economically, and intellectualy.
The First World War of 1914-1918, also known as the Great War, was the first total war in history. What began as a European struggle over the balance of power between the triple alliance of France, Britain and Russia on one side and the central powers of Germany and Austria-Hungary on the other, soon became a global conflict that involved the imperial powers of Europe, their colonies and lands such as the Ottoman Empire, Japan and the United States. Although the sheer number of countries involved in the conflict is enough to describe the First World War as a mass war, what makes it total is the fact that it was waged not only against the enemy’s armies, but also against the civilian population. Military attacks, the use of propaganda and the fact that governments had to mobilise every available human and material resource for the conduct of war affected non-combatants and made World War One a war not fought between armies, but entire societies.

Unfortunately, the Industrial Age brought with it many new ways to kill; the soldiers of World War I came in contact with many new weapons that they had never seen in combat.
