Drinking too much soft drinks can cause negative effects to your body. Yes, even those diet cokes. There are many things that soft drinks cause such as tooth decay, diabetes, weight gain, and many other health issues. The decay of your teeth happens when the plaque of your teeth becomes acidic and causes caries, this decay is stimulated by drink too many soft drinks. The sugar it provides and the contact of bacteria in our mouths creates an acid. This acid is also formed with sugar free soda, because they also have a type of acid that damage the teeth. This sweetener has many other ingredients that make people want to eat more, in fact, sugar is more addictive than cocaine. Furthermore it states that children and teenagers drinking soft drinks or energy drinks leads to obesity. Fizzy drinks can also cause kidney stone especially when you put them in the freezer. With all the sugar that is contained in the beverages we are consuming, it can be very harmful. If you are drinking a 5oz. can of soda it equals to 1 cup of sugar. If that can of soda is a normal size can that means that it contains 12oz. of soda, where 2oz is just sugar. This is based on the information provided in the article, but this amount can change. All this sugar also forms diabetes. Diabetes is a chronic condition with abnormally high level of sugar in the blood. “If a person drinks one, two, or more cans of soda a day it can lead to diabetes, even possibly to type 2 diabetes,” state's MEDICALNEWSTODAY.
