In 2013, there are 15.6 million international visitors arrivals in Singapore (Singapore Tourism Board, 2014). That is three times more than Singapore’s 5.4 million populations as of June 2013 (ref www.singstat.gov.sg). So how did Singapore’s Government contributed to Singapore’s success as a tourism destination, despite its limited resources? The objective of this report is to analyze the role that the Singapore’s National Tourism Organization (NTO) had played to support the success of Singapore as a tourism destination. While the business development group focuses on business related tourism such as conference venues, exhibitions, conventions, incentive travel, and cruise (Singapore Tourism Board, 2014). On the other hand, the policy and planning group, mainly focuses on the management, development and growth for hotels, travel agents, and tourist guides by providing visitor information, doing research, developing capabilities, introducing innovations and strategic planning (Singapore Tourism Board, 2014). Whereas, the experience development group focuses on improving and enhancing the visitor or individual experience in the different tourism sectors such as arts, sports, dining, retail and etc (Singapore Tourism Board, 2014). Lastly, the international group generally focuses on planning specific strategies for attracting international visitors from South East Asia, Middle East, Africa, America, Oceania, Europe, Greater China, and North Asia (Singapore Tourism Board, 2014). Marina Bay Sands that is located at the central business district and run by Las Vegas Sands, centers on being a premier entertainment destination by combining business and leisure in a one location (ref Marina Bay Sands). While Resorts World Sentosa, located at Sentosa island and own by Genting Singapore, focuses on being the ultimate island destination resort with two mega attraction, the Universal Studios Theme Park and Marine Life Park, and offers world class entertainment (ref Resort World Sentosa). With both the integrated resorts providing year round activities, top dining restaurant, specialty retail outlets, five star hotels and casino facilities, it acts as a pull factor to attract potential customers that are seeking this types of experience (Parrinello, G.R., 1993).
