Recommended: Importance of literacy education

Benjamin Franklin once said "either write something worth reading or do something worth writing". Reading and writing is the core base to every person’s education and that 's why it has made such a big influence on me. Reading and writing has played a very important role in my life, because it always makes me strive for more. I use writing and reading more than I think I do. Early on in my life I always tried my best when it came to reading. During my teenage years in high school I always struggled with writing but by the end I was able to do things I never imagined I could. Today, writing is still a big influence but due to some mistakes I 'm not where I should be, but it isn’t necessarily a bad thing.. I would not be where I am today with my reading and writing skills if it hadn 't have been for my 11th grade English teacher. I also wouldn 't have the interests that I have today because some of them branch off of what I 've written, or read about during my academic career.
When I was little I lived in Nebraska and during this time they had this program where if you did a lot of reading and you passed the tests that went with them, you would get free
With all of the different topics that are given and all of the different authors and different pieces of work that I have seen throughout the years I have become intrigued by things I didn 't think I would be intrigued by. I would have never thought about green chemistry and I never would have read about Lord of the Flies or Hamlet or any other works of literature to read throughout the years. I used to think of English as a chore and I used to think about reading and writing as a child as well but now, I enjoy writing I enjoy coming up with his story or I enjoy coming up with persuasion pieces I like people to see things from my perspective and I like how I can see it from other people 's perspectives as

I toyed around with political science, but I found that I spent more time on arguing with what the political figures stood for than actually studying. I was almost certain I wanted to be an interior designer but I became overly fixated on how to properly draw three dimensional boxes to further myself any farther. Truth be told, I am the type of person who rather create something encrusted with detail than something cut in dry like politics or basic shapes. I have always have had a love for literature and especially poetry. At age eight I became a published poet in a children’s book. Even at a young age I knew with words I can create something to quench my need to express how I feel about a certain topic or issue. Therefore I have recently declared myself as a literature major. Through the structured English 1B's course and power of words from authors; Boisseau, Bishop, Glaspell and Ibsen I have gained valuable life lessons .
