Criminal profiling is also said, to be called offender profiling. Criminal Profiling is defined as “a behavioral and investigation tool that is intended to help investigators to accurately predict and profile the characteristics of unknown criminal subjects or offenders (Offenders, 2014).” Therefore, when profiling an offender some characteristic stand out based off the crime that was committed the Criminal Justice Departments take in effect the offenders criminal patterns and the fact he or she is more likely to offend again.
With that being said, two offenders that I discuss early on in this class was Jeffrey Dahmer, and Andrea Yates. These two offenders were both convicted of murder. Jeffrey Dahmer came from a well together home. He had one brother. Jeffrey Dahmer committed his first murder while living with his grandmother. He killed a gay guy in her basement. He later went on to continue to commit murders in his grandmother basement until she put him out but, only for him to return and continue killing.
In like manner, Andrea Yates was a mother of four boys and one girl. Andrea Yates was severely depress and needed around the clock care to help with her mental issues, and the raisin of her children. Andrea Yates started out as a very good attentive mother until she had third …show more content…

Jeffrey Dahmer only came up on charges when one of his victim escape with the hand cuff around still intact. Moreover, they found various body part of Jeffrey Dahmer victims’ when they made the arrest at his grandmother home. However, factors that could have been a sure sign, and could be later added to his profile is the fact that Jeffry started out torturing animals.
