The National Football League is one of the most popular sports leagues in the world. The NFL has been very important in our nation and has made a large amount of money off of it. It is made up of amazing football players with outstanding skills. Although these players are superb at football, that doesn’t change how they behave. Many players have been suspended for their behavior by many different means of conduct. These suspensions range from committing crimes, to cheating, and to bad behavior on the field. The suspensions of these behaviors seem to be extremely controversial and have caused an outrage in the NFL. When thinking about the suspensions, it seems that they are unfair and seem to not have an impact on the players themselves. The NFL should make their punishments harsher and more consistent. Throughout many years in the NFL there have been a large amount of suspensions among the players. The degree of accusations are largely diverse, but the punishments behind those seem to be the same. It is Ludacris how one player can be accused of cheating and another accused of head hunting and they come out of it in the end and the punishments are very close to being the same. The NFL needs to learn how to punish accordingly and be more severe. There are too many instances where someone gets caught doing something illegal, and they keep doing it because the punishment isn’t as severe as it needs to be. The New England Patriots have been known for their unfair advantages with cheating in the …show more content…
Not only has he been a part of the deflategate, but he and his team have been accused of cheating many other times. They were caught filming the other team’s practices before the Super Bowl. So even though they get caught, and get punished it doesn’t change what they do. The NFL should either suspend them for a whole year or ban them from playing in the NFL because they don’t deserve
News of Brady's suspension follows the release Wednesday of a 243-page report that was commissioned by the NFL. It cited evidence from scientific studies to phone records and concluded that "it is more probable than not that New England Patriots personnel ... were involved in a deliberate effort to circumvent the rules." …league's required levels unearthed text messages and other communications between two of the team's employees, who joked about Brady's preference for underinflated footballs. (Smith) This more likely shows that Brady had no idea about the Deflation and it was the employees that deflated the

The Saints need to be responsible for the safety of all players and not just their own. Another issue they lack in is sportsmanship. Sportsmanship is a major part of football, without sportsmanship it doesn’t help anyone out. Saints did not show good sportsmanship what so ever, they didn’t care about the safety of others or the liability that was occurring (“What is”, n.d.). The situation says that the New Orleans Saints organizational culture is poorly managed (“What is”, n.d.). The system that they have going is unethical by the means of everyone invovled (“What is”, n.d.). They need to worry about safety, their reputation, fans, and more importantly the players. Even after all that has occurred in the bounty gate scandal there is hope. The team can rebuild their reputation. They can do this but earning their fans trust back by giving back (“What is”, n.d.). Giving back by showing them that the team cares. The Saints can raise money, donate money to foundations; foundations that deal with business. By doing so the New Orleans Saints can regain and earn everyone’s trust. The team itself has to practice responsibility, trust, integrity, and sportsmanship amongst themselves (“What is”, n.d.). From there their reputation will slowly rise
Even though athletes get special treatment they never think about how them getting off easy can back fire. The Ray Rice case is a prime example of how it was a downfall in their career. Rice got released from the Baltimore ravens and since then he has not play football. The NFL suspended him indefinitely, but it was later lifted because he did not lie to the commissioner about the domestic violence case. He was free to play again, but no team signed him because it was going to come with a ton of backlash and no team wanted to deal with that because it would have been a distraction to the team. Also, many people lost respect for Rice for putting his hands on a women. No one would look at him the same anymore. He has yet to sign with any team since the incident took
Minnesota Vikings National Football League (NFL) star, Adrian Peterson, was indicted in September 2014, for beating his four year-old son as a form of punishment for his alleged unruly behavior. According to media reports, Peterson’s son pushed his sister off a motorbike while playing a video game inside their home. In order to educate his son for his wrongdoing against his sister, Peterson grabbed a branch from a tree and whipped the young child several times, repeatedly. Reports indicated that the child suffered multiple
In a way tom Brady shouldn’t be punished because he was not caught inAction deflating the ball he was just catching the heat because he was theCaptain of the team and he hast to be a role model and the media wanted
Looking at the severity of injuries in the NFL in this day and age, and then looking at what the NFL does to protect players, the NFL is a business. Everything is politics. It has turned into who has the best stadium rather than who has the best players. The NFL is all about who has the best fans, not who has the best coach. The better fans you have, the more money you make, but the better coach you get, the more money you have to pay him. Growing up as a fan of the NFL, it saddens me to see the decline of the sport I love so much, but it is nearly inevitable. Soon enough, everyone in the NFL will be injured, and football will be over. The way things are going, players are dropping faster than we are gaining them. We only draft new players into the league once a...
Do you think media coverage of the National Football League is fair? The media has been interfering with players personal life and it is not ok. Such as the incident with Johnny Manziel, Jerry Rice, and Adrian Peterson. Johnny Manziel committed domestic violence against his girl friend, Jerry Rice punched his girlfriend, and Adrian Peterson committed child abuse. In addition to those crimes there have been many more. These issues have all dealt with law breaking, and media tells the public. This is interfering with player careers, it’s putting pressure on the NFL, and also affecting many youth football leagues. The media coverage of the NFL’s problems is not fair because the NFL has bigger problems to worry about, players are leaving teams, and parents are not letting there kids play football.
Fantasy football is the most anticipated and hyped competition for sports fans each year. It is where sports fans try to get bragging rights and show off their expertise in sports. According to Forbes, 33 million people play fantasy football each year. This includes an estimated 6.4 million women. They also found that Americans spend an estimated $800 million annually on all fantasy sports media products. This really is an American phenomenon.
NFL players have been known to get into bar fights, drive while intoxicated, and drive under the influence. In 2013 alone, 30 players were arrested and 10 of them received DUI’s. According to Jay Coakley, “Deviance occurs when a person’s ideas, traits, or actions are perceived by others to fall outside their normal range of acceptance in society” (...
It's nothing new for the National Football League's players to be abusing anabolic steroids and other performance enhancing drugs. Drug abuse in the league has recently focused around recreational drugs such as marijuana, cocaine, and alcohol. The newest drug being abused is painkillers. The commissioner and his personal need to change their policies. Will they wait until many more players start to die before they tighten up their drug policies? The National Football League (NFL) can stop most of these drug problems by having more random drug tests given, enforcing stricter punishments when players are caught using drugs, and requiring every team to educate its players annually on the effects and consequences of all drugs.
After thoroughly evaluating the positives and negatives impacting the sport entity, The NFL is really in a tough position by far. More and more players continually are being diagnosed and the worst part about it is, to fix the issue of retired players being exposed to this disease the league must fix its current game. Roger Goodell is in a tough position because like Bernard stated if you are going to practice the “safety rule” in today’s day and age, defensive players are going to be more concerned about getting fined then making the plays for its respective team. The game will lose integrity. The NFL must find a way were it can coup with everything because yes older players are suffering, current players are displeased, but what’s going to happen when parents turn away from football? The NFL may see it’s last snap.
them and put policies in place to help prevent injuries such as concussions. The NFL should not
In the legal aspect of things, the NFL can be held responsible for these injuries. It is not up to the players themselves to be provided the equipment that they wear, it’s the NFL’s. If this equipment is faulty, or is not protecting the players as they should, then they need to accept responsibility for this. Many have said it’s the players fault because they choose to do this line of work. They may have chosen the job, but they did not choose to get hurt in such a significant manner. As previously stated, this is another class act of getting hurt on the job.
This is a big topic in the sports world. Players such as Reggie Bush and O.J Mayo have stripped their team of big achievements just because of one desicon. Some of the things that have been stripped are national championships, scholarships, wins, and not being able to play in the postseason next year. The player also may have some achievements taken away as well. Such as, player of the year award, or defensive player of the year. Most of the incidents happen when a player signs an agent and takes gifts such as money, houses, cars, food, and so on. Colleges should be punished because they are responsible for that player, colleges/coaching staff have a pretty good idea of the events that happen between players, and the athletes are representing the college.
