Introduction
Traumatic brain injury (TBI) is an injury to the brain that results from a hard, direct hit (blow) to the head, whiplash, or direct impact to the brain by an object. TBI can be mild, moderate, or severe.
What do I need to know about this condition?
Symptoms of any type of TBI can be long lasting (chronic). Depending on the area of the brain that is affected, a TBI can interfere with vision, memory, concentration, speech, balance, sense of touch, and sleep. TBI can also cause chronic symptoms like headache or dizziness.
