How did the great Martin Luther King lead the African Americans? In our past there have been many leaders with unique leadership qualities, but the one leader who stands out is Martin Luther King Jr. Martin Luther King showed leadership skills and qualities by protesting against segregation in the United States. Martin Luther King was born on January 15, 1929 to Alberta Williams King and Martin Luther King Sr. He was born in Atlanta Georgia at a time when African Americans were fighting for equality. ( Clark). King devoted most of his life to fight for equal rights for African Americans. In joining this fight he demonstrated courage, he never gave up on his beliefs, and was a phenomenal public speaker. Fighting for equal rights for African Americans and protesting against segregation in the United States showed extreme bravery. To stand up in front of millions of people and speak against the majority of the United States, and risk his life everyday to fight for African American rights takes bravery and passion. On August 28,1963 Martin Luther King stoop up in front of millions of people despite that he was risking assassination and recited the speech that sounded like music to the African Americans ears. (Clark). I have a dream that one day this nation will rise up and live out the true meaning of its creed: "We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal." To say this speech takes true courage, true passion, and true love for not only his family and friends but for the people that have to go to different bathrooms because of the color of their skin. Another way King was brave is he lead the bus boycott. (Martin Luther King Jr.) This speech was a speech that let the African Americans know that even if he doesn't get there with him he's seen the outcome. Unfortunately King was assassinated the next day. Martin Luther King changed the world by using his leadership qualities. King had leadership qualities that lead him to his success in fighting for black rights. His leadership qualities were bravery, not giving up, and was a phenomenal speaker. Even though Martin Luther King is not with our nation today we still commemorate him by celebrating once every year on January 15 Martin Luther King day. Martin Luther King will always be remembered for his courage and passion for African Americans, he proved anyone can make a difference.
