Long time ago, before the Second Agricultural Revolution, people produced food only enough to feed themselves and their family members. After a series of agricultural revolutions, mankind earned the ability to produce massive amount of food due to the advancement of technology and science. However, this advancement brought the Industrial Revolution. As a result of the Industrial Revolution, the amount of workers that are working in the agricultural field decreased significantly. Due to the advancement of technology, we need less people to produce food, and more people in factories. Sometimes we think that human changing the environment is a new idea, but it is not. In Paleolithic time period, human interaction with the environment was very small scale. They used wood and stones to make fire and houses, and hunted animals. Then, in early settlement age, mankind began to deforest the forests for agricultural purpose, and now we are using all of nature’s resources such as oil, and coal. To simply define the major feature of human-environment relationship, it is harmful. People are hurting the environment and nature to improve our living. For example, as we are using more coal and oil, we produce so much carbon dioxide for the earth to heal itself; therefore, we are facing greenhouse effect and global warming. Also, from toxic gases from the factories, we are getting air pollution, and, further, acid rain. In my opinion, even though our nature still has its ability to heal naturally, our rate of destruction is much faster. Even the things that we try to help slowing down the destruction is not really working. For an instance, palm oil is a great biofuel that can replace some harmful fuels; however, to produce the amount of palm oil, we have to cut down more trees, which will lead to less carbon dioxide
