Essay On Generation Z

Generation Z is a term used for the generation of people born between the mid to late 1990s and the early 2000s. Generation Z likes fast paced active things, where they are always moving. We often have small attention spans, and lose concentration very quickly. It is almost like we have the attention span of a fish. Generation Z are born with technology. Computers, laptops, phones, game-boys, televisions etc. We grow up around them. The majority of Generation Z would rather stay inside then go outside and get fresh air. With all of the technology around us we are more likely to hold a conversation through texting rather than face to face. I know that I am super different to my mum in the way we run, I need to run with music playing in my ears but my mum would rather run without or just talk. We are interested in sports that are fast in motion, that don’t have too many rules and that don’t take too long to play. In this essay I will be talking about three main societal influences and what implications and influences they have on our generation. These are Media, Money and Technology. How does Media influence our generation? Media has one of the biggest influences over our generation, we are so addicted to our technology, so much so that a lot of people probably wouldn’t cope very well without their phone for just a day. We are constantly being influenced by the media without even realising it. In one day we are on average exposed to 3500 images and advertisements. Seems like a lot right? That number is more than one person 50 years ago would have seen in their lifetime. Being Generation Z, most of the time we will have our phone or laptop with us for most of the day. This means that we are constantly connected to the internet, tex... ... middle of paper ... ...ong with what they would wear and what they would have to look like. For the majority of people, I’m sure they would be put off by the fact that to do aerobics or gymnastics you would have to wear a skimpy little leotard or even a leotard with the stomach or back cut out of it. This is a negative implication because if more and more people become self conscious and pull out of playing sports and such, they might be unhappy playing the sports they do play, and might not be putting as much effort into it. This will be impacting them negatively participating in a sport should be fun, and something you enjoy doing. As a generation we are prone to falling for stereotypes. We wouldn’t want to go out in a leotard because the media has told us that you need to be skinny to wear a leotard, which is completely untrue. We seem to believe the stereotypes that the media tells us.
