According to Hunt and Vitell (1986)1, ethical judgment is the process of considering several alternatives and choosing the most ethical one. In my opinion, ethical judgments are the moral principles that justify the values of certain behaviors. Ethical judgments can be very subjective for different people because people use their own cultural backgrounds, religious beliefs, personal perspectives and life experiences to make judgments. The question arises: how do we justify what ethical judgments limit methods in art and nature science? The way to justify and who justifies the judgments brings different results in limiting methods in art and nature science. Most of the ethical judgments reduce the amount of methods in the production of knowledge; however, a few expand the methods to create art and explore natural science. People usually use reasoning to address ethical judgments, but at the same time personal emotions also affect their judgments.
Differences in ethics and values lead to different results in making judgments. The ethics and values of some Muslim citizens lead them to believe it’s ethical and necessary for women to be covered, because women need to keep themselves chaste by concealing their beauty. This risks losing the chance to appreciate the beauty of the human body and limiting fashion design as a method of art. Moreover, Muslim women will get hurt emotionally if their bodies are considered unethical and illegal and they will be ashamed of their own body. The goal was to create art while not breaking ethical judgments and it’s definitely ethical to paint an elegant Asian Mary in Asian Catholics’ mind. From the two examples, ethical judgment can reduce the influence and creation of art, but sometimes it also encourages peoples to think of alternative methods to making art, especially of justifications for ethical judgments are considered.

We have one resident in the long-term facility who has stage four cancer of spinal cord and he has been suffering from intense pain. Every time when I enter his room, he cries and implore to the god that he can minimize his suffering. Our perception of moral judgments sometimes affects the ways in which knowledge is produced. In these two areas of knowledge, the natural sciences and the arts, the ways of knowing are different as is the nature of the knowledge produced. Likewise, ethical judgments may or may not limit knowledge in these areas but in different ways. Ethical judgments may lead to questioning the means by which some scientific knowledge is produced. Significant, meaningful works of art are produced only when the artist is able to transmit an emotion to the spectator, reader or listener effectively. This is why powerful emotional reactions to a work of art sometimes produce strong and often opposing ethical judgements which can limit the artist’s opportunities to produce knowledge.

In the profession of Dental Hygiene, ethical dilemmas are nearly impossible to avoid, and most hygienists at some point in their professional life will have to face and answer ethical questions. Some ethical conflicts the dental hygienist may encounter can be quite complex and an obvious answer may not be readily available. Some of the deficiencies in the way cultural relativism addresses moral problems, according to Holmes; are that they remain impractical, they are subject to change depending on where you live, and that people tolerate the different cultures. As a professional business person, I agree with Holmes analysis. Allowing others perceptions or beliefs to get away with our own personal beliefs would be contradicting ourselves. It is important to stand up for our beliefs, and help educate others on ethical issues. Over time we can make a difference in the world by modeling moral beliefs and ethics.
Ethics are influence from many demographics which include family influences, peer influences, past experiences, religion, and situations. People decide whether something is ethical and whether or not it is right or wrong based on these influences. Individuals decide whether something is ethical or unethical based on family influences because people absorb about the ethical status or something family members based on how our families act. Also individuals also conduct their decisions based on peer influences because classmates and friends that surround us, usually impact a person’s believes on what is right or wrong overtime. Furthermore, people also resolve to their decisions on whether something is right or wrong established on past experiences because they predict their benefits on demographics that had happened to them in the past. Additionally, people select some decisions based on religion because a person’s religious beliefs will usually inspire he or she on what is right or wrong. Finally, another way people base their ethical decisions is based on the situations they are in because people sometimes change their beliefs depending on the circumstances they are in.

When we refer to irresponsible behaviour we refer to it as immoral or unethical. The focus is on the character and mannerism of a person. Ethics is based on the fact that it is unselfish and balances what is good for one’s self and what is good for others. An action is therefore unethical if the person doing the action is only concerned about the self and not about the good and the other.
Ethical theories are a way of finding solutions to ethical dilemmas using moral reasoning or moral character. The overall classification of ethical theories involves finding a resolution to ethical problems that are not necessarily answered by laws or principles already in place but that achieve justice and allow for individual rights. Ethical actions are those that increase prosperity, but ethics in business is not only focused on actions, it can also involve consequences of actions and a person’s own moral character.
Based on this creator-centric definition, one may claim that art is purely a form of individual expression, and therefore creation of art should not be hindered by ethical consideration.
