Recommended: Impact of discrimination on society

Discrimination Imagine being discriminated against because of a preference or something that is unable to be changed. What would that feel like? Discrimination is happening all around the world, with all different kinds of people. People can be discriminated against by all types of things, such as age, sex, race, religion, sexuality, height, etc. I believe that discrimination is becoming a bigger cause in other countries as the United States (US) and that it should be addressed more than it is being. There are many types of discrimination going on throughout various places but, the three main ones happening are sexuality discrimination, race discrimination, and religious discrimination. The biggest one accruing right now is sexuality discrimination. …show more content…

The laws forbids discrimination when it comes to any type of employment, including hiring, firing, pay, job assignments, promotions, layoff, training, and any other term of employment. Harassing one can happen in different forms such as saying remarks to them, racial slurs, etc. Discrimination has been happening on the daily to some. Presence of racial segregation or based on studies that assess differential success in securing housing by race (Sheldon). Studies say that there was a four year study over religious discrimination around the world and Christians were the most discriminated against group, experiencing harassment by the government and society in 168 countries. Muslims are the second biggest religious population in the world and they were discriminated against in 121 countries worldwide between 2006 and 2010. Jews are the third religion that gets discriminated against, even though they make up one percent of the population (11 Facts). . Freedom from discrimination is a fundamental principle of human rights (Nygren). Sex discrimination is also beginning to causing problems in the United States. Sex discrimination involves treating someone unfavorably because of a persons sex (Sex-Based). For sex discrimination to be illegal, it has to involve different treatment that negatively affects the terms or conditions of employment (Sex Discrimination). Mostly in the United States women fight and have to deal with sex discrimination
