Construction Management graduates are left with a diverse range of opportunities which they may endeavour. These include the following:

Contracts Manager: Health and safety concerns are considered their main role as well as managing client expectations and negotiating sub-contracts (CareerStructure.com, 2014)
Planner: Organises the work of the estimators and project manager to develop a project plan, schedules and sometimes capital cost estimates (HumanResources.Hrvinet.com, 2010)
Quantity Surveyor: Estimate and observe costs from the early stages of a project up to the completion of the project (Australian Institute of Quantity Surveyors, 2014)
Site Manager/foreman: Supervises the construction site each day and ensures that tasks are completed safely and to the directed plans. (CareerStructure.com, 2014)

I am strongly confident that by pursuing a career in the construction industry as a Project Manager is beyond doubt the most suitable career. As elaborated above I occupy the appropriate skills that will assist myself as Project Manager in the construction industry. In addition, the benefits that may be accomplished surpass the challenges and detriments that may be confronted to supplement my interest in achieving the position as a Construction Project Manager.

In the globalized economy, Successful project managers are in much demand across many industries. Organizations strongly need experienced project managers to lead their staff to accomplish their business goals and deliver successful projects. In an increasingly complex environment, project managers need to turn into many roles and have all kinds of responsibilities at each level of management within an organization. Accurately forecasting the cost of projects is vital to the survival of any business or organization. Cost estimators develop the cost information that business owners or managers, professional design team members, and construction contractors need to make budgetary and feasibility determinations. From an Owner's perspective the cost estimate may be used to determine the project scope or whether the project should proceed. According to the U.S. Department of Labor there were about 198,000 cost estimators in 1994. That of which 58% work in the construction industry, 17% employed in manufacturing industries, and the remaining 25% elsewhere. From this we could conclude that a great deal of cost estimation lies in the construction industry, where multi-million dollar contracts are formed after a thorough cost estimation.
Over the course of my professional life, I have become increasingly involved in project management roles. Doing so has made me aware of the many varied challenges that can face projects and the project managers who are charged with bringing them through to completion. The success or failure of projects, in whatever economic, political or social field, rests not just on the quality of the project’s goals, but also on the abilities of those involved in the project – and above all those who are managing it – to bring it to successful completion. To do this, project managers need to be equipped with a very wide range of skills, many of which are unrelated to the type of project itself.
