All around the world, Audrey Hepburn is an idol to kids, teens, adults, elders, and even myself. Audrey Hepburn has gone through a lot in her lifetime including a tough childhood, a successful career, an outstanding fashion sense, and a vast amount of charity work. Throughout her struggles and successes, she always kept a smile on her face as well as keeping smiles on others. Audrey Hepburn, as amazing as she was and still is, will always be an idol, role model, and hero to people all across the globe.
To start off, Audrey Hepburn was born on May 4, 1929, to an english father and a dutch mother in Ixelles, Belgium. At birth, she was given the name Audrey Kathleen Ruston, but took up the name Audrey Hepburn for the big screen because of her father’s surname. Growing up, Audrey lived her early life under the Nazi occupation. Although it was unknown at the time, Audrey’s father was a true Nazi sympathiser. When her mother found out his secret allegiance to Hitler, as well as another secret that Hepburn’s father was sleeping with their nanny, they divorced and he immediately left the family. (biographyonline.net) Because of that, and her being under Nazi occupation, Audrey suffered from depression and malnutrition. It was also relayed that Audrey Hepburn used to act as a courier during the war and carry messages to others in her ballet shoes behind the backs of the Nazi's supervision. (audrey1.org)

Also, Audrey’s work with UNICEF and the Audrey Hepburn Children’s fund left a lasting impact on the world. Audrey Hepburn has had a lasting impact on the movie, fashion, and charity industries and will forever be remembered.
Without a doubt there is one major performer that certainly stands out within our pop culture world. The name of this very famous American icon is, Dolly Parton. Dolly has surpassed any rags to riches story that ever lived. She has touched the lives of so many individuals over many decades through her many talents. Dolly started her career at a very young age and continued fulfilling her life endeavors through country music, pop music, and even acting. This American icon didn’t stop with just her talents, she also gave back to our society through charity, fundraising, and establishing her own theme park. Dolly Parton was brought up in a very poor family, however through much dedication she became the famous icon everyone idolized today.

Although, Audrey was a very successful woman and had a very successful career, she didn’t start out that way. Audrey lived a difficult life and had to work her way to the top. She struggled throughout her childhood and teen years, and was finally able to make a name for herself in her early 20’s.
Born Audrey Kathleen Ruston on May 4, 1929 to parents Joseph Hepburn-Ruston and Ella van Heemstra, Audrey lived with her two half-brothers, in Brussels, Belgium. She and her brothers lived a luscious life as young children, seeing that her mother was a Dutch Baroness who was descended from French and English kings and her father a well-known business man and banker. Audrey’s father later appended Hepburn to his surname, thus Audrey becoming Hepburn-Ruston (Biography of Audrey Hepburn.) In 1935 Joseph and Ella divorced, and Audrey recalled it to be one of the most traumatic events of her life. In the early years after the divorce, Audrey and her mother lived in England, but with the outbreak of World War II, her mother moved them to the Netherlands; this area was neutral and her mother’s home country. Much to her mother’s dismay, on May 10, 1940, Nazi Germans invaded the Netherlands and Audrey’s family, consisting of Audrey’s mother and her two half-brothers were forced to endure hardships of war (Audrey Hepburn 1929-1993.) Growing up Anne lived in a very wealthy and happy home. Her father was a very successful man. He owned his own business and provided more than enough for the Frank family. When Anne was born in Frankfurt am Maine, Germany on June 12, 1929 her mom and dad moved to Amsterdam, Germany. (Web. 5 Mar 2014.)
