Who is Superman? He was a superhero because of his super powers, but you don’t have to have special powers to be a hero. Just doing something that would help people or something, can make you a hero. One of the greatest heroes in American history is Andrew Jackson. Andrew Jackson is a hero because he took money from National governments and gave it to the State government, he also gained land from the West, and he got America more land for farming. The Indian removal act pushed the Indians out of American land. Pushing Native American’s out of our land made us look stronger. Taking the land also gave us more room to populate, and more land to grow crops. This made us more money. If We did not move the Native Americans, we would not have as much population and crops, which would make us poor, and if we were poor, Natives could attack us, and take our land. The loss of land would hurt America, and we could no longer have America. Some of the things Andrew Jackson did, were not the greatest, but Andrew Jackson is the reason we have America. He was the first president to be chosen by the people and his background was not that of a typical president. He was not born into a rich family. Jackson favored the general public rather than the wealthy. His election shifted the balance of power from the wealthy East Coast, to farmers and small businesspeople in the west. Jackson vetoed more bills than all previous presidents did in an attempt to help the common man.

Yet, he acted as no other president had done so and wanted to have a government without corruption for the people. He made the Native Americans feel unwelcomed in their own country by taking their land and shipping them off were they would not bother a white man. Andrew Jackson was like no other president before him. The previous presidents had one thing in common, they were all part of the founding fathers or in John Quincy Adam’s case was the son of a founding father. However Jackson was a plantation owner from the west who had no connections with the government. He also had different views from other presidents that made his presidency unique. Two things that separated Andrew Jackson’s presidency from previous presidencies were he reached out to the common people and he was disapproving of the Bank of United States.
Jackson remained in the military after the war. Late in 1817,he received orders to subdue the Seminole Native Americans, who were raiding across the border from Spanish Florida itself. He captured its bastions at St. Marks Pensacola and arrested, tried, and executed two British nationalists whom he charged with abetting the Native Americans.

In the book it says that his military success also led him to presidential success. He was also smart enough to hide, and not only be out of sight, but use cotton bales as shields for his troops. With intelligence like this, many thought of him as a possible leader. He was also called a war hero, because had he lost, the respect gained by other countries would not have existed, and other countries may not have left America alone.
Most Americans admired Andrew Jackson because of he as a patriot, a war hero, self self-made a person. When he was getting inaugurated thousands of farmers and laborers came to Washington to hear him speak. After his speech people went to the white house just to shake his hand who seemed just like them. This sounds good that they are good supporters, but he isn’t a good president so let thousands of people down in the future. Another issue is that now anyone thinks they can be a president because they thought they were like Andrew Jackson.
Jefferson emphasized American ideals. The quote “Jackson epitomized many American ideals.” really helps support this. He did what most of the common man think of when they think of America. He ignored race, gender, and religion. He let most people vote. He gave the small guys a chance. He acted more like a common man than a king. There are thing that others may say to disprove this.
The legacy of Andrew Jackson was of a self-made man, of perseverance that would one day lead to the presidency. His life acquainted him well with death, where at a young age he lost his family – his mother and two brothers – to war and his father before he was even born. Events like the Fort Mims massacre, his relationship with Native Americans, and his beliefs in Manifest Destiny would influence his politics later in life.

The other presidents before him were either a federalist, democratic-republican or a republican. He vetoed more than twelve bills than his six predecessors. He wanted to make sure his people were treated fairly. The first president, George Washington, to the sixth president, John Quincy Adams, only vetoed nine bills. The first six presidents before him were wealthy and educated. Andrew Jackson did not have much money and felt education was not really necessary. Overall, Jackson seemed to be a hero compared to the other presidents before him.
