When people think about ancient Greece most minds think of the Olympics and Greek mythology. Some may think of the temple architecture and others may think of art. But there is a lot more to ancient Greece than this. Yes these things are very major but there are a lot of things people don’t know about ancient Greece. But there are thing we do know about them. Women in ancient Greece really spent their lives following mens orders, trying to make men happy. Men were responsible for women. If women received property her cousin uncle or male relative could force her to divorce her husband. That family member would then be called a kiore. They only time women could meet with each other without their kyrois was at religious feast only for women. Women could not own property. Poor women had more freedom than rich women. With poor women could not afford to have slaves. So the women could get water shop etc by them self’s. Boys were properly educated. Girls were not educated. They were taught how to cook, clean, sew and take care of children from their mother. Wealthy girls had tutors and got an education. Girls in ancient Greece were vied as nothing. In some rooms of housed were reserved for women only. They were usually in the back so men could hide women from guests. They also did not eat with the men. Zeus was the king of the gods and universe. He defeated his father kronos to become king. His weapon was lightning bolts and he could control the weather. He had a lot of children with different women who became heroes. Zeus married his sister Hera. The Olympians would pray to Zeus before and after Olympic games. Hera is Zeus wife and sister. She sprung fully grown and armored from Zeus’s head. The city Athens is named after her. Apollo is the god of properly. Apollo is also known as the god of the sun. Apollo was known for his looks and skill for archery. Apollo was a very tough god the gods were frightened from him. But he also had a soft side to him. Ancient Greece today is most known for the culture: the gods, the dramas, how people lived. What most people do not realize is that there were hundreds, maybe even thousands, of different civilizations spread throughout Greece that all had different forms of government. The three main ones were Athens, Sparta, and Miletus. Each was very different from the other. The most powerful out of all three was Sparta: a military based society. The Spartan government had a strong foundation that was all torn down by one bad leader.

Athena was one of the twelve gods in Greek mythology that lived on Mount Olympus. She was the daughter of Zeus the ruler of all the gods and the god of the sky. Athena had many titles is Greek mythology but her two most influential were the goddess of war and the goddess of wisdom. Some of the stories that will be discussed in this paper have multiple versions to them depending on who is telling them or what culture is telling them.

Helios did not play a big part in Greek mythology and was eventually replaced by Apollo, but in the Odyssey he gets revenge on Odysseus for eating his cattle. Lastly, Aeolus, and this god is different because there are actually three gods with this name. The most famous, which is the one that will be talked about in the Odyssey, is the keeper of the winds, and he is also known by his other name, Hippotes. He gives Odysseus favorable winds, but when his companion opens the bad with the bad winds things turn a turn for the worse.

Over time different beliefs surrounding the mystery of life after death have accumulated in different religions, societies and history. Undeniable by all as an inevitable fate , is the definition has changed over time . Exactly what happens in life after death ? Is there a difference in the qual there is a heaven and a hell ?
