One thing that a lot of teenagers encounter the most is high expectations. They have different duties to fulfill, as daughters to their parents, good students to their teachers, and for some, student leaders to other students. Most of the expectations they get may seem unattainable, and a lot of them strive really hard to achieve these. Teenagers try very hard to fulfill the expectations they get from the people who are important to them, and there are effects that they may encounter when doing so. When teenagers don’t reach the standards of the people who expect of them, they tend to feel as if they are judged by peers, disappointment to their families, and failures to their teachers. This brings frustration to the teens towards the people who set the high expectations. This may result to broken relationships between the teenagers and their families, friends, and teachers coming from the frustrations, hatred, and disappointments. Nowadays, a lot of teens don’t communicate with their parents at all. A new study suggests that more parents and teenagers experience tension and aggravation with one another. There are 2 ways on how they can do this. The first one is by talking to someone about their problems and emotions. There are times that teens just need someone to listen to them as a reassurance that they are not alone, and someone is actually there for them. Another way to express ones emotions is by using a journal. This is to help them release the pressure and tension they’re feeling.
