The change in the nation reflected in a growing sense of national pride and identity. The following events have happened after the War of 1812 in America because the United States got a sense of nationalism, due to the U.S. winning the war. After the War of 1812 the Era of Good Feelings accrued due to the U.S. gaining nationalism, and the Republicans took full control of the government. Andrew Jackson became the 7th president, after the Era of Good Feeling, which soon became known as The Age of Jackson. The national bank was vetoed by Jackson, and the money went the the state banks. The Election of 1828 was a life changing event for the U.S. Jackson was the first president to be born in a log cabin. This really caught the attention of poor merchants, and farmers because Jackson had something in common with the people. Since the election of 1828 included citizens who did not own property, a majority of first time voters voted for Jackson because he was the closest to the people. This was the first major benefit for poor citizens of the U.S. , and this caused even more nationalism for the farmers and merchants. The corrupt bargain took place during this election, causing Jackson to make democratic changes. Andrew Jackson created more power to the people during his presidency. Jackson was afraid for the government to have all the power. Due to this, sometimes Jackson would attack politicians he thought dangerous to liberty. Since he was born into a poor farmer, he did not believe in special privileges to the wealthy. Jackson had believed the bank favored the rich. General Jackson was making as many changes to the government as he could, and he started to veto. Jackson had worked separately from politicians and Congress. In Jackson's presidency, he had vetoed more acts than the previous six presidents. Because of this he was given the nickname “King Andrew 1”.
