The following events have happened after the War of 1812 in America because the United States got a sense of nationalism, due to the U.S. winning the war. After the War of 1812 the Era of Good Feelings accrued due to the U.S. gaining nationalism, and the Republicans took full control of the government. The Election of 1828 was a life changing event for the U.S. Jackson was the first president to be born in a log cabin. This really caught the attention of poor merchants, and farmers because Jackson had something in common with the people. Since the election of 1828 included citizens who did not own property, a majority of first time voters voted for Jackson because he was the closest to the people. This was the first major benefit for poor citizens of the U.S. , and this caused even more nationalism for the farmers and merchants. The corrupt bargain took place during this election, causing Jackson to make democratic changes. Andrew Jackson created more power to the people during his presidency. Jackson was afraid for the government to have all the power. Due to this, sometimes Jackson would attack politicians he thought dangerous to liberty. Since he was born into a poor farmer, he did not believe in special privileges to the wealthy. Jackson had believed the bank favored the rich. General Jackson was making as many changes to the government as he could, and he started to veto. Jackson had worked separately from politicians and Congress. He was the first president to be chosen by the people and his background was not that of a typical president. He was not born into a rich family. Jackson favored the general public rather than the wealthy. His election shifted the balance of power from the wealthy East Coast, to farmers and small businesspeople in the west. Jackson vetoed more bills than all previous presidents did in an attempt to help the common man.
For these reasons, the title “The Era of Good Feelings” inaccuratly sums up the economic occurrences after the war of 1812. In conclusion, the name “The Era of Good Feelings” accurately encompasses the social changes after the war, somewhat grasps the political changes, and does not accurately capture the economic changes.

Curtis pointed out that Jackson was a great American general who was well liked by the people. As history shows, Andrew Jackson had his flaws; for example, he thought the National Bank of the United States was going to kill him but he was determined to kill it first. He resented the Bank because he thought it was the reason for the Panic of 1819. Andrew Jackson was elected to the presidency in 1824 after first being nominated in 1822. He was sixty-one when he was elected the seventh president of the United States.
After the War of 1812, America was heading into one of the the worst depressions ever in American history. Despite the many failures, the time after the war was known as “The Era of Good Feelings.” This was an inaccurate label for the selected time period. It is inaccurately labelled the “Era of Good Feelings” because of the weak economy, the terrible attempts by the government to keep the U.S. as one nation, and different views on slavery. As Andrew Jackson once said, “Peace, above all things, is to be desired, but blood must sometimes be spilled to obtain it on equable and lasting terms.”
Andrew Jackson was the 7th president of the United States and represented the common people. He did many things that he believed helped the people of the United States, but in fact were unconstitutional. In my opinion Andrew Jackson acted like a king. In 1812 a war began. Jackson was elected the general of Tennessee Militia in 1802. Then the troops were needed on the southern and western frontiers, the War Department sent Jackson along with Tennessee Militia. Jackson became a war hero, in doing so, he surprisingly defended New Orleans against a full-scale attack by the British forcing them to withdraw form Louisiana. The unexpected victory launched an enormous sense of national pride as America began to realize its true potential.
Andrew Jackson was elected by popular vote and became the seventh president of the United States in March 4, 1829.[1] In his presidency, I have known and perceived that he has done few of great actions. But in my opinion, I would not claim that he was either a good or bad president because I learned about his attainments in life, being a president, a fighter in wars, etc.; however, I have also learned some of his unimpressive performance that led to some people who did not find it convenient.
President Andrew Johnson lifted himself out of extreme poverty to become President of the United States. He was a man with little education who climbed the political ladder and held many different high offices. As a strict constitutionalist, Johnson believed in limiting the powers of the federal government. President Johnson was one of the most bellicose Presidents who “fought” Congress, critics, and many others. President Andrew Johnson faced numerous problems post-Civil War Era including reconstructing the Southern states to combine peacefully with the Union, his battles with Congress, and his career ending impeachment.
The Era of Good Feelings was one in which the federalist dissolved thus leaving only one party; the republicans which left no room for party politics, this resulted into nationalism which was emphasized not only with that of Madison's letter but also the Star Spangled Banner, the Bonus Bill, the Monroe Doctrine, The Court Decisions of John Marshall and most importantly National Spirit through the U.S. After the win of James Monroe a Virginian Republican president nationalism was looked at through that of a great perspective wherein Monroe won 231 of the electoral vote verses Adams of the electoral vote. (Doc I-Presidential Election, 1820) Also as the war between American and Britain came to a halt there were some minor issues that took place however, both countries settled the disputes between each other rather than going to war. This is because the British had taken note of U.S. sovereignty, therefore the U.S. was able to put forth Nationalistic ideals seeing that one of the strongest European nations had now respected the sovereignty that we, as a young country, had established. This was followed by a letter that Madison wrote to Congress in 1815 which represented once again the spirit of National Pride.
He made the Native Americans feel unwelcomed in their own country by taking their land and shipping them off were they would not bother a white man. Jackson also changed the voting system to benefit his own needs while in office. He was also overwhelmed by the amount of power he possessed and eventually succumbed to the temptations of selfishness. He won the battle of New Orleans and took over Florida with his own army. Common citizens marveled at his war tactics and his record of cheating death. Andrew Jackson was like no other president before him. The previous presidents had one thing in common, they were all part of the founding fathers or in John Quincy Adam’s case was the son of a founding father. However Jackson was a plantation owner from the west who had no connections with the government. He also had different views from other presidents that made his presidency unique. Two things that separated Andrew Jackson’s presidency from previous presidencies were he reached out to the common people and he was disapproving of the Bank of United States.

The first six presidents before him were wealthy and educated. Andrew Jackson did not have much money and felt education was not really necessary. Overall, Jackson seemed to be a hero compared to the other presidents before him.

As President, Jackson sought to rid the government of all its corrupt officials. This is backed up by the information in document D, which states that Jackson believed that the offices should be rotated every four years and filled by the people. The same document states that Jackson believed the president should serve a single term of no more than four or six years; the senators should have similar constraints with subjection to removal.
