I’m a Medical Doctor in General Medicine and My interest in the field of Public Health, and specifically, Epidemiology is a deeply personal nature. I choose poverty-stricken Mississippi for my Master’s program as I have seen firsthand the perpetual cycle of ineffective or absent public healthcare policies, and people in the grips of many preventive and treatable conditions, compounded by lack of access to preventative health services and education, or quality, compassionate care. I cannot go forward without remembering how I grew up and established my career in the field of Medicine to serve the poor, needy and giving back to the best of my ability, knowledge and heartfelt compassion. As I grew, I expanded my broad aspect of knowledge of science, increased my exposure and refined my scientific research interests to what they are today. Volunteerism has been a constant feature in my life, working at university hospitals and schools whenever I could, thoroughly enjoying the interaction with multidisciplinary teams as well as patients and students. I came to understand their unique life challenges, noticing common threads, and the needs to contribute to the lives of many people. My career in medicine was pure to sacrifice, hard work, focus and patience though it was hard for me, I enjoyed doing it. I enjoyed great lectures and prompt attention I received after indicating my interest to the department and university represents a diverse array of students (Americans, Asians, Africans, Hispanic) faculty and research-oriented, and a quality that ensures a dynamic and stimulating educational environment. The School of Health Sciences provides a scheduled meeting time with Dean, promotes health by encouraging students to walk on Friday evenings at 4:00 pm, conducts surveys on implementing student needs & interest.
