These days it seems no one cares about our mother earth. People use, take, and pollute what little resources this planet has, and they just hope it will still be there for their kids. Something must be done to change their way of thinking. Soon, the planet will no longer be habitable, and humans are they only ones to blame. People should care about our planet because the amount of litter humans produce is horrendous, driving a car is bad news, drilling for oil will kill the earth, and planting new plants can save it.
The fact is many animals will die this year due to littering. People never hear about these animals because who really cares about this kind of stuff? Well, we need these animals for our eco-system to continue. The amount of phone calls the RSPCA receives about animals affected by litter each year is over 7,000 (RSPCA). Simply placing the correct items, in a specific trash bin, can save thousands of animals. If the world does not start recycling, the animal population will continue to dwindle, and then where will we get our meat?
“Approximately 90% of the waste generated in the U.S. could be recycled, but Americans are recycling only about 30% of their trash” (Castro et. al. 2009). Recycling can save a significant amount of energy. It takes more energy to produce material, than it does to reuse materials you already have. All recycled material saves energy compared to first time processed material. The energy saved by recycling is astronomical, yet we are still having power shortages and gas prices are still going up. If we continue to use up this energy as if we were entitled to it, it will soon be gone.
Contributing to the economy is an important side effect of recycling. People must be hired to sort through all t...

Everybody knows that to keep the car from over-heating; they must put oil in it. Now think of the earth as a car. If humans continue to suck up all the oil, it will eventually run out. If the earth no longer has oil, its gear will start to grind causing earthquakes and the earth will soon overheat and die. If people continue to let this happen the earth will implode on its self.
In the end, the only way to help this planet is if everyone did their part in saving it. The world as we know it will soon be gone and our children’s children will blame us and our self-centered ways. Driving a car every day puts out so much emission. Drilling for oil will cause our earth to overheat. Recycling and planting new plants is a big part in saving this planet.
If everyone recycled then there would be less need for new materials to be made out of unused resources; instead they would be made with recycled materials. Recycling saves a lot of natural resources because every time you turn something into the recycling center part of that is reused on a future product. In fact I read once, that each aluminum can that is recycled, a quarter of that is used on a new can. That twenty-five percent can add up in the long run. When people don't recycle that plastic bottle, aluminum can, or glass bottle that is in their trash can it is only used once and then is sent to a landfill just to take up space.
Humans need to change their way of life. We are destroying our Earth at such a fast rate and we do not get another chance once it is gone. Everyone believes that someone else is going to save them, when in reality you are the only person to count on. Most people do not realize the urgency of this problem. To this day, some people do not believe that global warming is happening even though the glaciers are melting, average temperatures are rising and many other occurrences are happening.
It’s up to us, as the new generation of the planet, to change the way we think about the world around us. We need to realize that the environment is not just a background to our lives, it’s apart of our lives and has just as much importance and right to be here as we do.
Some people say recycling is a waste of time. If one is a very busy person, then maybe. But taking that extra two seconds to recycle, saving energy, money, resources, and the world isn’t a bad plan either. If everyone would take the extra two seconds to recycle, the extra effort would help to make the world would be a much cleaner and more efficient place. Recycling could also help to lower taxes in the long run. Recycled materials have value, and trash costs money. A city recycling program could sell it and make money. Then, with the extra money, the city wouldn’t have to charge as much money on taxes. Now how does those two extra seconds sound now? One can better the place they live in and save some money by taking two extra seconds to recycle.
Lots of recycled products are less expensive than brand new ones. Buying cans, bottles, paper, and some clothing items made from recycled goods are all potential ways to save you money. People can use their recycled items. People can use their recycled paper to make pencil which saves money. When people make paper it cost $25,000 dollars a month. If people use recycled paper, then it won't even cost about $100. The benefit in cost per can in terms of savings is so low that it's quite insignificant. On another level, the savings in terms of energy required in making a new can from scratch as compared to making it from an existing can is tremendous. The cost of aluminum would be high if people did not recycle it. Metals like copper, iron, and steel can also be recycled. Scrap bits of metal can be brought to a scrap dealer who will pay cash for the metal. Automobile manufacturers get good money for scrap metal too. Some people think that recycling is a great way to save
Man has used fossil fuels for thousands of years. For millions of years they have rested beneath the earths surface, however, recently man has began to consume these fuels at an incredible rate. The rates are so high that many experts say the earth’s fossil fuel supply will run out in the next century unless alternative forms of energy can be found. Currently one of the most consumed fossil fuels is oil, which in a refined state provides power to a majority of the cars, buses, and planes used every day on this planet. (#1) The consumption of oil is increasing every year, and the earth’s oil reserves are becoming less. With the danger of depleting the planet’s oil supplies, humanity must keep searching fo...
Our planet is suffering from severe pollution, which ranges from contaminated air, water and soil as well. Humans are doing nothing to reduce the amount of pollution that is harming our earth. To understand how pollution works first you must understand that there are different types of pollution. The most common types of pollution and the ones that I will be focusing on which are the ones doing the most harm to our planet are air pollution, water pollution, soil contamination and littering. In order to help out and reduce pollution in our planet people need to be more aware of what these problems are and about the severe damages that they are causing our planet. Before industrialization really jumped into place and had an effect on large cities, nature had its own way of cleaning up its own air and itself. Wind scattered gases, rain washed many substances and the rest dissolved into the ground; while plants absorbed carbon dioxide and made it into oxygen. With big cities growing more every time and with more towns that were becoming more industrialized a lot of more waste began to be released into the environment and the atmosphere and soon this was more than enough for nature to handle. In order to stop and reduce pollution people need to understand the damage that it is causing our environment and our planet as well. People need to be more aware of how they can help out and do their part in reducing these problems that are causing our planet to die slowly with people not even noticing it.
In the 1870’s, plastic was discovered in the United States when John Wesley Hyatt was trying to create a different material to make billiard balls (Manrich, 3). Little did he know it would majorly evolve into material we use everyday. However, plastics are now taking over our landfills. The average American throws away one-hundred and eighty-five pounds of plastic a year (Popescu, 121). The answer to decrease this statistic is easy: recycling. I believe that recycling will help eliminate littering and the growth of landfills, while also creating jobs for the unemployed. Not only does recycling plastic help eliminate littering, but also reuses the plastic so there is not a production of additional unneeded plastics. The
There are many ways that we can help save the earth. The most basic steps that we should do is by recycling. Recycling is the processing of industrial household waste so that the waste material will not be wasted and instead produced into a new material. This method is done to reuse potentially useful materials, reduce the consumption of fresh raw material, decrease energy usage and at the same time reducing pollution. Example of materials that can be recycles is rubber, plastic, metals...
To save the environment is the need of the hour. We humans have been destroying our environment to satisfy our need. Sooner than later, our planets’ ecology will be completely destroyed and we may even see our planet like the way it was in the movie, WALL-E. We may even have to leave it, as was the case in the movie Interstellar. Having said that, we know that something needs to be done, our environment needs to be saved. New sources of energy need to be found and used to replace fossil fuels. Deforestation has to be stopped. Simple things can be done and even a single person can make a difference, although the inclusion of others is necessary. Pollution, the main cause for the destruction of the environment, has to be reduced and regulated and eventually has to be completely nullified.
The earth is being destroyed by humans, more than ever due to society views on conserving. There is no denying that the environment is constantly changing. However, as the environment changes, so does the need to become aware of the problems that come with these changes. Our current environmental problems demand attention because if we don’t take action and, instead ignore these problems, the earth wont last as long as it should. We are destroying the earth with our lack of knowledge and responsibility. There are many ways we are harming the environment, but there are also many ways we can help it, even when we have no control over somethings, there are things we can do to make the earth better, such as switching over to solar and wind power, conserving water, recycling, and being more caring of our wildlife.
Some of us truly care about these problems, they want to fix them so the human race can go on living. The human race honestly does not deserve to live on. There is a time when all must die, when all will perish, shrivel up, terminate. Soon it will be our time. It is nature. Even though we have twisted nature and killed what should be does not mean that everything that should be will be twisted to our likings. It is our entire fault that there is a hole in the ozone layer, it is primarily our fault that there is limited amounts of clean air and water to consume. It should just have been the plight of the human race that desisted, but alas, being the selfish and ignorant fools we are, we bring down most of the living creatures today with us… unless we can evolve extremely quickly in a very short amount of time (fifty years) to not need so much water, to be able to breathe dirtied air, to find a way to exist without all of our technology and 'smart' ways of living. These 'smart' things are actually quite dumb. We only believe that they are smart because they help us get along more efficiently with our meek little lives. Things that 'help' in the beginning can kill us all later on.
While walking through the park last Sunday, I observed a shocking scene. There are two cans: one for recycling and one for trash. The recycling receptacle had only an empty Dr. Pepper can and a few used Ozarka water bottles. On the other hand, the trash can had a plethora of half eaten meals, wrappers, banana peels and disgustingly even bottles, cans, newspapers and plastics that could have been recycled. Because people do not understand or do not care to understand about conserving our resources, many reusable items are being put in landfills when recycling these items could help save the environment.
Therefore, recycling can protect natural resources, preserve energy and lessen pollution. If people want to save planet Earth for generations to come, then recycling is necessary. On Debate.org, the question “Should there be mandatory recycling?” was asked and 84 percent said yes, while only 16 percent said no (“Should There Be Mandatory Recycling”). Recycling is very important to the planet and can make a huge difference in so many ways. Recycling is a way of life and once a person has made the choice to follow through with the steps, recycling can become second nature. Every small contribution adds up to how the society shapes the Earth’s future. How will someone make a difference?
Recycling is important in the effort to preserve our environment for future generations. We are running out of locations to put landfills. Recycling is a simple and effective way to reduce the amount of waste stored in landfills, yet many people do not know how easy it can be. For example, whenever I go to Shoprite® and I b...
