English 101 Reflection

When I entered University, I contemplated the inevitable semester that I would have to take and complete English 101(Academic Writing). When I think about my childhood I found that English has never been my strong suit. My parents, who knew this about me, told me that this is the most important class outside of my major that I would take in my college years. I decided that I would tackle English 101 head on and truly improve my writing skills as it will heavily benefit me through the rest of my time in college.
English 101 was a different experience from what I had learned prior, where they would tell us to read famous literature and write about them with no emphasis on improving writing skills. I would see a drastic amount of improvement in my writings starting from the first summary we wrote to the Final Position paper. I am very proud of the improvement that I’ve seen myself go through this semester. This class has challenged me to take my writing to a different level. The challenges I came across in most of my papers was figuring out how to formulate thesis for a paper as well as grammar and citations. …show more content…

One example was writing the thesis for my Rhetorical Analysis, I wasn't sure what to say in my thesis. I couldn't word it well enough. It ended up making my paper a little confusing. My thesis for the rhetorical Analysis was not detailed enough and did not hit all my main points.
