In To Kill A Mockingbird , Harper Lee describes the life of the Finch family and the society they revolve in. It shows how people in Maycomb County denigrated each other depending on their different viewpoints . It portraits different point of views from racist(Aunt Alexandra and Bob Ewell) to pacifist(Atticus and his kids).She shows that if you have empathy than you can understand the whole story of someone because it is necessary to know what the other is going through, just that in real life it is tough to get in someone's skin because you need to have background knowledge to be right because were are not perfect, just like Scout in the end of the book she looks at the world from Boo’s perspective .
In Maycomb county 1960 society, it is crucial for some people to understand the circumstances others encounter , but this is extremely rare for that to happen, since the people possess a selfish mind and a minor amount of care towards each …show more content…

When, Atticus said to his daughter “....You never really understand until you climb into his skin and walk around it” Pg.48 he says that to understand someone's views you need to be them and think like them to be able to understand their views. To be able to stand in another shoes it essential to have empathy, however, you need to have knowledge of the others person's life to know what genuinely is their perspective.Maycomb folks do not believe others have a correct perspective, so they are not interested in what the other's views are , in which this could leave to misunderstanding between each other. But there was also a small-scale of people who had empathy but when it came to being part of a mob they would change. When, Harper Lee creates a scene where there is a mob that consist of an emphatic man, she makes the mob want to do a harmful(Kill Atticus Finch father of two kids)
