Summary: According to Elizabeth Cline, the author of “The power of buying less by buying better.” When it comes to fashion, one should ignore the fast fashion trend of the current age. Stay away from buying a lot of cloths of lower quality. Instead one should purchase higher quality clothes which are more durable, more environmentally friendly, and more expensive, however worth the price. As the author stated, the current fashion trend focused on a faster, cheaper and lower-quality clothing trend, where the buyers’ sole reason is to buy cheap clothes for immediate uses. Cline claimed that this trend of fashion is hugely environmentally irresponsive and unethical due to many illegal and immoral practices committed by the many big corporations, as a result, many new companies jumped to action by promoting a new clothing trend that is solely about built to last. I believe in a long-term uses clothing trend because as a student I do not have a lot of money and time to continuedly purchasing clothes that will then need to be discarded and replaced after a couple of usages. That is why I prefer clothes that will last year and year to come so that I will not waste my money. Thus, I, one hundred percent agree with the author that fast fashion trend needed to be limit or stop entirely. Another Idea that I agree with the author is that fast clothing trend is unethical and environmentally unfriendly. As a student of UCD, recycling and wastes prevention are very prominent and relevant to the school, which is why buying a large quantity of low-quality clothes to then discarded them is very frowned upon by many people.
