Easily accessible, accurate health information is essential to improve patient safety, and the efficiency and effectiveness of health care delivery. Data standards are necessary for information flow through the national health information infrastructure. When determining the requirements for health data and health information systems for an occupational health center, it is imperative to consult with numerous agencies and resources to ensure that standards are being met, thereby ensuring that patients are receiving safe, efficient, and effective healthcare. The Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ) aids in improving the safety and quality of America's health care system.
