Clothing and personality: The Effects “The Lord God made garments of skin for Adam and his wife and clothed them.” Since the beginning of time, people have been wearing clothes and people still do that to this day. You most likely use clothing as a way to express yourself. For some reason,many schools, usually middle school and down, don't allow student to wear anything besides a uniform. This doesn't give anyone the freedom to choose what they want to wear, but instead, they are given instructions how they should dress; a dress code. Similarly, many students are required to wear uniforms at school or adult at work as well. For example, numerous middle and elementary schoolers are required to wear a certain color of shirt depending on their grade level leaving them incapacitated to wear what they please. One can wear what they please, however, be ready to receive different looks. Clothing doesn't always reflect on the person's character, but people will always judge because that's how we were made. In college, no one can tell you what to wear or what not to. Wearing something that you love, something that shows your culture or something that you are passionate about is gnarly, but there should be a line between going extreme and not hurting anyone. Make sure to be cautious of what you wear and what others will be compelled to say about you. The effect it has on a someone can differ from person to person. People's reactions vary depending on how one dresses. Some people won’t even take the time out of their day to help you out since you are dressed poorly by their standards. People that are on the streets with inferior clothing to those that have a stable income could be seen as dirty. They can't do anything about it so why judge them in the first place. Thisshouldn't be something we judge because they could have been through onerous times in the past. For the most part, we should just help them out and create a superior day than the rest.In reality, no one should be judged while not even knowing anything about them, but, that is what many people are used to
Dress code enforces the modest dress of students, preventing bullying and distractions.Numerous people believe clothing is a distraction and when eliminated the school environment is more professional and gives a better education to a student. Authority figures consider the school apparel enforcements are constitutionally sound, not affecting the child’s right to freely express, and providing a professional and working setting causing a better learning environment and decreased amount of bullying due to clear differences in appearance. All children express themselves differently. Clothing choice is a major part of their expression. Whether the child is wearing colorful shoes, an all black tuxedo, or religious T-shirt, he/she is sending a direct message. This form of expression can help teachers get to know the student individually. This is beneficial when engaging in conversation with the student. The student will in turn find the classroom setting more enjoyable. When children are required to wear uniforms, their freedom of expression is limited. There is no variation between what the students are wearing each day, and there are no clues to what the students’ personalities are. All of the children are seen as the same and having the same personality. Without the ability to express themselves through clothing, children may choose a more disruptive way in doing so such as verbally and/or physically. As long as the clothing children decide to wear is not disrupting others, it is better for students to express themselves that way. People are under constant pressure to conform to the current designer fashions in order to be accepted as beautiful and “cool.” Jerry M. Burger explains this type of conformity well, he says, “We don’t want to look out of step or become the target of criticism just because we like different kinds of music or dress differently than everyone else. Parents and their children are constantly arguing about the way students dress in school. This debate has become a national conversation which has been going on for more than a decade. However, there still hasn’t been a final resolution. The questions “Why do I have to wear the uniform today?” or “Can I wear this t-shirt because the color matches with my school t-shirt?” have become part of our everyday lives. At the beginning of the 20th century almost no parent or faculty had any concerns with how students dressed to attend school. Nowadays, though, this is a giant concern among students, parents, and school board officials. Many arguments have been made over the matter saying uniforms should be required and enforced in schools. But, uniforms should not be required as they ultimately eliminate freedom of expression, promote conformity over individuality, may have a detrimental effect on students self image, emphasize the socioeconomic divisions they are supposed to eliminate, and lastly, school uniforms in public schools undermine the promise of a free education by adding an extra expense for families.

A person’s choice of clothing has a plethora of effects on both themselves and people they socialize with such as how associates feel about that person or if they’d even want to talk to them. Recent studies have shown that a large amount of feelings are produced on account of the apparel that a person wears. Notably, people tend to wear clothing that they believe expresses who they are which could have a positive or negative effect. In spite of these studies the misleading argument is that appearance doesn’t matter, but it has a substantial amount of effect on the chances for deeds such as making friends or getting job offers.
Your appearances affect the way you are treated, you can either be discriminated against or it benefits you. I honestly believe that money doesn’t buy class. You don’t necessarily have to wear expensive outfits to look professional or from upper class, it all depends how you carry yourself. The way you dress and carry yourself says a lot about your class. That’s why first impression makes such a huge effect in us. The way you dress to an interview will determine whether you will get the job or not. I have also seen many different scenarios where people are discriminated against based on what they wear. I don’t think the way people dress is a reason to discriminate them but I do believe that everyone should know what’s appropriate depending on the occasion. Many people dress the way they feel most comfortable or they just wear simply what they like. If a man walks into a place with a suit and tie he will definitely get more attention and respect then another man with a regular shirt and jeans. Clothing is something that defines a person, and allows society to have an outlook on an individual’s lifestyle and beliefs. Unlike criticizing other material things like a car, a home or even something as simple as a television set, criticism of clothing is very personal. This suggests that there is a high correlation between clothing and personal identity and values. (Breward, pg.1) Clothing in a sense has the ability to communicate thought. However, similarly to art interpretations, this does not mean that any two people will perceive these visual aesthetics similarly.
