Title:
The evaluation of cultural competence: The relationship between international social work education (study abroad) and cultural competence.

Introduction
In the last decade there has been considerable research which shows that if social work students study abroad, then they will be more culturally competent. Authors have explained that international social work education is supported by traditional ethical principles and values (Rotabi, Gammonley, & Gamble, 2006). This means that students must respect other cultures under any circumstance and obey by the ethical international social work education rules. Studying abroad provides social work students with the opportunity to develop knowledge of international social work, global citizenship and well cultural competency (Das & Anand, 2014). The framework of the study is based on Culture Theory.
 The data collection will involve semi-structured interviews.
Independent and Dependent Variables
 The independent variable in this study is the study abroad program and the dependent variable are the student’s cultural competence.
Statement of research question
The research study will address the following research questions:
1. What is the importance of cultural competence?
2. Does the implementation of study abroad programs improve student’s cultural competence?
