Throughout the novel, The Red Badge of Courage, written by Stephen Crane, a theme is portrayed within a battle that takes place during the Civil War. It is that each person must find the courage to win his or her won battle for maturity or adulthood. A soldier, who is also the main character, Henry Fleming, exemplifies this theme.
I aspire to become a leader in my family and community inspiring those around me to maximize life to its fullest potential. To use my God given gifts and talents to apply the principles necessary, to make a significant difference in the lives of others. To live a balanced life challenging myself intellectually as well as allowing time for my mind to rest and do things I enjoy. Congratulations, you want to become one person out of the five percent of all Boy Scouts who will become Eagle Scouts. It is a great honor, and you should try to succeed in your goal. However, becoming a true Eagle Scout is not just done by completing the requirements and finishing a project; you also have to display all of the qualities that a true Eagle Scout should exemplify. You have to be able to earn that honor, and through this essay you will learn about all it takes to be an Eagle Scout including the book requirements, the merit badges, the project, the scoutmaster conference and board of review, and lastly the qualities that an Eagle Scout must show. You will also learn that even after your scouting experience is completed, you still will need to demonstrate all of these qualities because you will be held at a higher standard than most.
Sometimes a loss of innocence through contact with evil and life experiences leads to maturity. It helps one see the world for what it really is and gives a shot of reality instead of just living in a dream world. In the novel To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee, Scout’s early childhood innocence is lost as she becomes a near grown up. She starts to see Maycomb in a different light and learns to accept people as they truly are instead of what she thought they were. This is because she comes in contact with racial prejudice, Boo Radley and she real people of Maycomb.
My main goal is to get an athletic scholarship. I won't be able to get one though if my grades aren't good and I can't have that happen. Education will be able to help me continue to do what I love. I plan to keep doing what I am doing in school so I can leave Freeburg knowing I am set for the next few years in my academic and sports filled life.
I plan on achieving these goals by completing high school, get a high asvab score, and by staying in good physical shape. I will put all my effort into completing my work and being able to stand side by side to my brothers and sisters of the US Marines, ready to defend the United States, and those within the nation. As a student in Greater Lawrence Technical school my ultimate goal was to become a member of National Honors Society. From the very start I knew I had the potential to become who I wanted to be. Being seen as a person who can be National honors society member has made me so happy and realize I can really go for more in life! They sky's the limit. I always had honor roll and wanted to push myself for more than what I knew I could do. I asked teachers and guidance counselors how to get into NHS and if they believed I was eligible for National Honor Society. They said with your outstanding character, motivation and dedication to help others is how!
Achieving the rank of Eagle Scout has been one of my greatest accomplishments of my life. Getting my Eagle Scout has given me three great benefits; the first one is many life skills, benefits while applying for a job, and people look up to me as an Eagle Scout. Getting this award has been a great honor and has taught me many of the life skills needed to be successful in today’s modern society.

I grew up watching many television shows such as COPS, criminal minds, cold case, without a trace, and it has always caught my attention to do work closer to criminal profiling, behavioral analysis. Not only did I grow up watching such television shows but I also has a really tough childhood experience that has led to me wanting to make a difference and I know I may not be able to make a huge difference but as long as I am able to help a few citizens that will do for me. In order to understand the how the Boy Scouts of America, or BSA, has changed, it is important to understand the purpose of the BSA. The common misconception of what Scouting looks like, typically sets an image of young boys building a fire and tying knots while camping. This is not entirely untrue, the BSA has a large connection to the outdoors, and many skills are necessary for advancement within the organization. There is no other program or group that can match the BSA. From lessons in leadership and, communication to serving others. The Boy Scouts of America has clearly defined the true purpose of what Scouting is about. In the Scout Oath and Scout Law the BSA depicts the way a Scout should live and how a Scout is defined.
