For our TV character personality assignment, we chose Michael Scott from The Office. Michael Scott is 53, and lives in Scranton, Pennsylvania. He is the Regional Business Manager at Dunder Mifflin Scranton, a paper company, leaving him in the upper-middle class. He was not married at the time of the episode that we watched. Michael’s personality can be shown through Psychodynamic theory, Humanistic Theory, Trait Theory, and Cognitive Social Theory.
In this episode of The Office, Dwight starts a fire in the office in order for the other employees to learn how to properly handle the situation. All of the employees run around in a panic trying to escape the building with their most important belongings and in the process, Stanley has a heart attack. Stanley returns to the office and a CPR instructor comes in to try and teach the office how to do CPR. This goes poorly and ends up with Dwight cutting the face off of the mannequin and everyone else begins dancing to the song “Staying Alive.” Again Dwight is reprimanded by corporate and must apologize to the office. In order to reduce stress in the office, Michael comes up with a meditation ritual, but during this session he finds out that he is the reason for the stress when Stanley’s biofeedback machine goes off every time that he is near Michael.
