These days, many people are thinking about “Why am I suffering?” or “Life is so difficult.” Probably there are times when people don’t want to go on with life because life just keeps on getting harder and harder. However, this picture can help soothe people. It says “Everyone wants happiness nobody wants pain but you can’t have a rainbow without a little rain.” In this picture, we see a girl’s hand stretching out to feel the rain. It seems that she is prepared to go to the heavy rain and the background is rather blue and cloudy. This shows us that the girl is ready to go to the rain so that later, she can see the rainbow. The font type is pretty blue and seems really glum. Also, if you see the font, the font is more focused but blends well with the background. The main argument of this picture is to tell us that everyone needs pain in order to achieve happiness. So when they look at their reminiscence, they can actually be thankful that the hard times are over. But at the same time, this message can be complete opposites. It might be saying that rain is necessary and sometimes rainbows can be misleading.
The author is trying to tell us that sometimes life can be really bad and at times, life can be really good and that everyone experiences this situation. He also tells the people who are about to experience the rain not to lose hope, because they will find happiness. As we see this picture, we can see that there is a cycle in the picture. ... I look at this phrase, this phrase comforts me because life is not just suffering, but it is also about happiness. However, this picture can be viewed in a totally different perspective. Rain is not just about suffering, but it is saying that rain give us life and nourishment, and rainbows may sound like a good thing, but in reality, it might just be an illusion that leads to nowhere. For example, when I think about my future, there are times where I start to think deeply and start worrying about my future. However, after I see this picture, it helps me realize that life will lead to happiness at some point of our lives, but if we become too unrealistic, it might turn into just a dream that will actually never happen. Therefore, the author’s main argument is easy to understand if you look at it simply, but with depth, it becomes something more complex and arcane.
Somehow I related to this painting at the moment. Looking back in the distance in the sky you see that there was a turbulent time. Saturday was such an awful morning. When backing up you see the bottom of the picture. The lush lively flowers show the bright side happy ending. This was my reminder that there is a calm after the storm just like in the picture.
Aiming to gratify others has a tendency of making people act in ways other than their usual self. As one begins to act the way others want them to they begin to lose distinctiveness and individuality. For Colored Girls who have Considered Suicide when the Rainbow is Enuf by Ntozake Shange is about a specific set of women, who aim to please a certain man or different men. Each woman is hurt in some way by a man and as they progress throughout the series of “choreopoems”, they alter themselves in different ways to cause an effect upon the various men they associate themselves with. As the women describe their experiences, it is obvious that they make drastic changes in themselves. These women lose purpose and become confused, bitter, scared, and frustrated about their lives. Consequently, the ladies have negative outward reactions that are similar to each other, making the women easy to stereotype. The women in For Colored Girls who have Considered Suicide when the Rainbow is Enuf have the opportunity to narrate their own stories; however, they choose to emphasize the influence of men in their lives, thus illustrating how susceptible they are to stereotyping and making them weakened as individuals.
The author focuses on a bike in the middle of the image which symbolizes freedom and progress. Additionally the creator uses diction by saying “THERE IS HOPE!” underneath the bike. This person has now progressed through time and they know that there is something to live for. They can now be free from their mind. Next, the author states “When I was in the mental ward I would look out the window a lot. Now since I’m out, I ride my bike past the window everyday and SMILE!” They know that someone in their life has made their life better
and his capacity is the same for joy as it is for sorrow. Man broods upon the tantalizing nature of his life, for he thinks that were it not for one chance cause of sorrow, his would be a serene and exultant existence. In the end he comes to see that his sorrow is the secret of the power and poignancy of his joy.
We are more than just a receptacle that holds a collection of good emotions and pleasures. We are more than just a “happy” internal life. If happiness is the only thing that matters, what are we to be happy? Nozick asks, “How could the most important thing about our life be what it contains, though? What makes the felt experiences of pleasure or happiness more important than what we ourselves are like?” (Mulnix). It is by thinking about the Experience Machine, and wondering what it would be like to live an eternal, positive internal life, that we realize we would not want to spend our lives connected to the Experience Machine. We realize that there is more to life that we value than just our experiences. Perhaps we want to make a change in our lives, or in the lives of others. But, is there a "right" place to look for happiness? This is never clearly answered in the essay but we are left with some helpful insight.
I agree with Schopenhauer that suffering is a part of human and animal life. If we are realistic, life is not all sunshine and rainbows. There are times where we feel disconnected with other people and with our spirit. I believe it is the reason why we sometimes feel miserable at times, because we dwell on the past and look forward to the future; we spend too much time thinking about it that it brings pain. Another reason I support Schopenhauer’s belief is when he states that “our existence is to pay a price of our sin” (p 51). Perhaps the author meant that as humans purpose in life is to realize our sin and our pains. Life is difficult. "Suffering...is not an exception to the human condition, it is the human condition" (Gomes 405). The question of why life can be unjustly cruel is asked today and has been asked since the beginning of time.
Suffering can be defined as an experience of discomfort suffered by a person during his life. The New York Times published an article entitled what suffering does, by David Brooks (2014). In this article, Brooks explains how suffering plays an important role in our pursuit of happiness. He explains firstly that happiness is found through experiences and then, suffering can also be a motivation in our pursuit of happiness. In other words, suffering is a fearful but necessary gift to acquire happiness. This paper is related to motivation and emotion, two keys words to the pursuit of happiness (King, 2010).

You might think of rain as nothing other than rain. Rain is much more important than little raindrops falling out of the sky. In some countries that only get a few inches of rain a year, rain is worshiped like a god. I know from experience that people aren’t big fans of the rain, but for me the rain is very important. Also, the rain is something that you should enjoy and be thankful for, and it is definitely something that you shouldn’t hate. If you’re in a place like California where it doesn’t rain a lot, I instantly feel this small surge of joy or happiness. And when it does rain I feel that we should be thankful for it. I also feel like the rain is sort of the beginning or the start of a lot of things. If there was just this one little farm that supplied a small city of people with meat and vegetables, the farm would probably rely on a tank filled with rain water used to provide the crops with water to grow. If this wasn’t possible, then there wouldn’t be any water for crops, and there wouldn’t be any crops to feed the small city and then there wouldn’t be a lot of healthy people because people would need to rely on processed foods.
