In the speech “Effects of colonialism on africa’s past and present, Dr. Motsoko Pheko believes that the colonization of africa was the europeans fault. Dr. Motsoko Pheko accuses and blames the europeans for destroying and colonizing africa and that colonialism causes cultures to clash Pheko uses pathos to advance his point of view. For example, Pheko states “africa was plunged into another human tragedy”. This example of pathos demonstrates that slavery has done enough damage to the african people and colonizing them and robbing them of their culture and heritage is not any better. The uses of the word tragedy appeals to emotion by making us feel bad for what they have been through. This example of pathos demonstrates that the U.S is leading the natives to a schoolhouse for education and helping them become civilized people. The use of this image appeals to emotion by making the U.S seem like the good guys, and making the natives seem like they don't know anything, and they are are not civilized.
