Billionaire real estate developer, Donald Trump has shown the world that he is one of the most respected and sometimes yet most hated person in the world. With these differing public views, as a person and a successful businessman, he has become one of the most followed persons across the world. Not a day goes by where he has not been googled on social media, and he is known for his tweets. Because he is so popular, multiple biographies and articles could be written about him. Trump’s life is a constant intriguing adventure. He grew up in Queens, New York and has been married three times with multiple children from these marriages. To begin, Donald John Trump was born in 1946, in Queens, New York. He was the fourth of five children born to parents Frederick C. and Mary MacLeod Trump. Donald Trump’s father was a builder and real estate developer. He later specialized in constructing and operating middle-income apartments, in the cities of New York to include Queens, Staten Island, and Brooklyn. This business was very successful for his father, which allowed their family to live in a 23-room house. At the age of 13, Trump attended New York Military Academy. Trump’s parents felt this military schooling was necessary because he appeared to lack discipline. While in military school, he was known as the star athlete. In his spare time during school, he began to pursue his interests in construction sites and renovating old houses. Trump later attended Fordham University and subsequently transferred to University of Pennsylvania, where he earned an undergraduate degree in finance from The Wharton School of Business in 1968 (Dow and Noce). Following graduation, he immediately started in his father’s business, known as the Trump Organization. He used his newly earned education and training and financed the expansion of the his father’s business. He took the approach of convincing his father, “To be liberal in the use of loans based on the equity in the Trump apartment complexes” (Dow and Noce). First of all, Donald Trump is a businessman-not a politician. He received his degree in Economics/Real Estate from the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School of Finance. In 2007, Forbes Magazine reported his annual earnings in entertainment alone to be $32 million. This would have meant a significant pay cut, had he become United States President. Currently, he is the producer and star of “The Apprentice,” which has been on air since 2004 (“The Apprentice”). He holds multiple offices at the Trump Organization, and is also a chairman of Trump Hotels and Casino Resorts, Incorporated (Project Vote Smart). Donald Trump has put his name on products and companies both successful and unsuccessful, including food products, corporations, and a clothing line. Trump once stated that “The stuff that’s been sent over from China falls apart after a year and a half. It’s crap.” Ironically, the majority of his products are manufactured in China (Webley, 8). How can we expect a man to keep in touch with an entire country when he can hardly keep in touch with his own business? Donald Trump has had some other losses in business as well, including a failed airline business and multiple bankruptcies in his casinos, among other lost investments. (Webley, 3).
Bill Clinton known as William Jefferson Blythe III was born on August 19, 1946 in Hope, Arkansas. His mother's name was Virginia Cassidy and his father was William Jefferson Blythe. Bill Clinton never got to meet his biological father due to the fact that he died in an accident three months before he was born. Bill Clinton was taught to read at a very early age by his grandma, Edith Cassidy who practically raised him. In 1950 Bill Clinton’s mom married Roger Clinton who was a car dealer and an abusive alcoholic, when Bill Clinton was fifteen; his mother divorce Roger Clinton then remarried him again. Has a young boy he was very religious to the point where he went to church on a regular basis and when he became an adult he was a member of a Baptist church. He became infatuated with politics when he was a teenager; he won student elections in high school as well as at Georgetown University in Washington, D.C. where he graduated from and later on won a Rhodes Scholarship to Oxford University. When he graduated from Yale Law School Bill Clinton taught law at the University of Arkansas for a short amount of time.
While Donald Trump is a billion dollar business tycoon and he's known for his shrewd dealings as a real estate mogul, he still wants to run for President of the United States. The mogul has popularity among the rich and famous for his business-style leadership and will use this to his advantage to gain votes and supporters. In my opinion, Donald Trump is a confrontational and brazen individual. He seems to treat his candidacy with the same unethical attitude that is used in his line of business.

Similar to the corrupt politician portrayed in Parkman's essay, Donald Trump exudes the qualities of a "wretched, wire-pulling demagogue, who is as ignorant as the constituents that choose him" (167-8). The phenomenon behind his success in the 2016 parallels that of corrupt politicians during the Gilded Age. Disgruntled, uneducated masses throw their support at Trump in an effort to rise in social class. However, they mindlessly disregard that Trump is the embodiment of the wealthy upper class which controls much of the issues that upset them. Despite the many political indecencies that Trump has committed, such as acting racist or making outlandish unconstitutional promises, he retains support from many who, similar to Parkman's Gilded Age, "throw their cap up at the claptrap declamation of some lying knave [who] turns from the voice of honesty and reason" (166). Furthermore, his unbelievable attention from news outlets can be paralleled by Parkman's other quality of a corrupt leader who dutifully protects the rights of Americans because it allows "pulpit, platform, and press, to condone his vices" (166). Evidently, the corrupt politician can make promises to a vulnerable nation that are far from plausible, acting as a source of unrest, rather than a calming and reassuring force. Donald Trump is known for his eccentricity and unconventional businesses practices. He exhibits an unconventional leadership style. Donald Trump started early to develop his personal brand, this is exhibited by every piece of real estate Mr. Trump owns. Every casino, building or golf course has his name on it. He is eccentric, powerful, but yet he makes very smart business decisions. He is also a risk taker. All these business skills have made him a very well recognized business leader, and one of the nations most known billionaires. Donald Trump has appeared in many magazines, has written a couple of books, and even gotten his own show on NBC called “The Apprentice”. But what makes Donald Trump successful in almost every endeavor he takes on? Was he born a leader? or did he just become a great leader. There are certain characteristics common in all leaders. Some of those are values, skills and cognitive abilities. Mr. Trump exhibits all of these traits. If this is what has made him as successful as he is, why are certain leaders not able to achieve his type of success? Perhaps he has something extra that has propelled him above everybody else. Everything that he touches seems to turn to gold. Donald Trump’s leadership styles have made him rich, powerful, famous and known through out the world. This paper will examine some of those leadership styles.
2016 Presidential candidates Donald Trump and Hilary Clinton have exuberantly managed to provide us with perhaps the most unorthodox mockery of a presidential election ever seen in modern day history. Why? Because this was an election based virtually on circumstance.
