Domestic Violence in Society
Domestic violence abuse is very prominent in today’s society. It is a serious issue that is commonly thrown to the side or overlooked. Over the course of years, domestic violence case incidents have been more current and prone to women. Nearly one-third of the U.S. female population have experienced some form of domestic violence abuse in their lifetime. (Otjen, 2013) My main focus is on how domestic violence effects our society at large, our women on college campuses and Universities. Living in the world today, human’s way of living and culture backgrounds are all divergent that domestic violence has become a more relevant issue than ever before in history. Domestic violence cases are often swept under the rug and not acknowledged to victimized college women among the ages of 18-24. More than 80 percent of domestic violence cases are victimized towards the whole women species (Sulak, et al., 2014) Domestic violence does not just include physical abuse, but its mental and emotional abuse as well. It is a chronic abuse of power.
The effects of domestic violence in our college communities are extremely enormous and the way to stop the issues of domestic violence is by educating one another on the outcomes and to stop the controlled mindsets of abuse. Violence against women impact can ultimately range from sexual control which can also lead to death (McMillian, Lombard, 2013) If the issues of domestic violence are not addressed and dealt with then this horrific abuse will continue to deter women’s physical, mental and emotional abuse. Health can either be a source of power or limiting factor, it is up to humans to make that deciding factor to terminate domestic violence

Witnessing violence between parents or caretakers is considered the strongest risk factor of transmitting violent behavior from one generation to the next (Break the Cycle, 2006).
