Do the Olympic Games bring Benefits to the Host Country?

As the 800 days counting down till next summer olympics, topics about olympic become popular again. One of the most dubious questions is that whether Olympic brings hosts benefits or, on the contrary, it drags its GDP(Gross Domestic Product) and society downward. To be a host of next Olympic seems a lucky draw for the country. However, there are some negative comments of Olympics, people consider as a burden to host Olympic since it cost a lost of money to build stadiums. In fact, it is just like the slogan of Olympic says: “ faster, higher, stronger.” Those are what an Olympic truly bring to the country and citizens. Olympic Games has positive influence on a country’s economy, society, and health.
It has a great positive impact on a country’s economy. Firstly, it creates a large amount of jobs in hosting city(Harress, Christopher). Because hosting an Olympic is a significant project which can’t be done without many workers hard working. For example, to build those stadiums, government needs to hire a lot of engineers, masons, carpenters, etc. More Jobs means more goods and services are provided in order to build up a better society and environment for tourists, ultimately for country citizens’ future enjoyments. Secondly, tourists consumption will take part in benefits. During Olympic days, there are large amount of athletes, their family members, basically people from other country jams into hosting city, statistically, over 2,000 athletes from 201 nations participated into the Summer Olympic in 2012. It means enormous consumptions of goods emerged. With the gigantic production of more workers, those goods can be provided on time. Therefore, it promotes country’s economy significantly overtime.
