Disney movies are indeed very well-liked by many people. Most of the films produced by Disney will surely attract many viewers that the movies become very successful. Sometimes, there's a moral message inserted in some of the stories from Disney movies. However, not all Disney movies provide education and moral values for the audience. There are several movies that give unrealistic expectations in life. It surely can affect Disney audience who are mostly children. This essay will be using Electronic Colonialism Theory for further description.

Disney movies contain the values and culture of America. Related to the ECT, Disney movies illustrate how the media are able to influence person's mind. Disney movies spread and aired in cinemas around the world. The audience and fans of Disney movies which are mostly children can be affected easily because they will imitate what they see without realizing the impact. American culture can affect children in various aspects such as speaking style, dressing style, or even the habits of American people through Disney movies. Moreover, ECT also explained that media could influence consumer behavior. Several media corporations sell their media products aggressively for international consumption. The strategy proved to be successful because their biggest revenue comes from outside the US. For example, Disney movies are not only marketed through the cinema only but Disney movies are also marketed through DVD sales. This strategy certainly provides more income for the Walt Disney Company. According to Disney, merchandise licensing revenue growth was driven by the strength of Star Wars merchandise, partially offset by lower sales of merchandise based on Frozen. Not only that, Disney movies also typically creates a new trend in society.
