Don't Discriminate Against The Homeless When people hear the word homeless, they automatically think someone looking dirty, begging for money, going to steal, uneducated, and living on the streets. Some of homeless people may work, they just do not have a home or somewhere to live; some may have been successful once before they just may have went down the wrong path; and some may have mental illnesses that caused them to be homeless. Do not discriminate against someone just by their looks, It goes back to the old saying do not judge a book by its cover. Homeless people are just like everyone else in the world; just because they are homeless and less fortunate does not make them different than others. The number of homeless people in America is outrageous, and it is only growing as people are getting unemployed. If everyone pitched in to help the homeless and instead discriminate by them, then the numbers of homeless people would decrease. Homelessness is a national problem in the UK as well the government there estimates that there is at last six hundred people on the streets. They stated that this may be an underestimate. For this to be a national problem many individuals had to chose that lifestyle (Stickley 1). Mental health issues and social behavior is the number one reason for people becoming homeless. When they start to lose support, they detach themselves from society. Then when they start to be alone then they start to fellowship with the streets (Stickley 2). Most of their mental disorders start when they are a child. Their parents may have taken care of them while they were a child, but if their parents deceased. No one else in the family really wanted them or to take care of them. Which lived them no choice but adapt to being homeless (Stickley
