Digital Film Technology Revolutionizes the Film Industry
With the release of Star Wars: Episode I the Phantom Menace, in March of 1999, digital film technology officially filtered itself in to main-stream Hollywood. Digital film technology is the latest and probably most revolutionizing new technology to hit Hollywood. The use of digital film allows for infinite editing capabilities and endless benefits to distribution and special effects. The use of digital film allows for producers to add in extras, produce stunts, and even create false people with the click of a mouse. Time and cost consuming stunts, stunt doubles, and actors may no longer be a worthy concern to producers and their budgets. Though the growing popularity of digital film technology gradually replaces these actors and on-screen jobs, this new technology is actually creating more jobs than it destroys.
The use of digital film first began to make it’s way into Hollywood in special effects scenes. For example, in Forest Gump, released in 1994 by Paramount Pictures, a few scenes are enhanced with this technology. In a scene which actor Gary Senise loses his legs, producer Robert Zemeckis did his best to manipulate the film to show the actor with no legs. Using digital film technology, visual effects supervisor, Ken Ralston explains how they mastered this technique. Ralston explains,
‘Gary looked like he had no legs because we eliminated them. We had Gary wear blue screen stockings over his feet and lower legs that tucked into the ends of his pants. We did blank plate passes of each location to add a back to the information Fary’s lower legs clocked. After we removed his lower legs, we did some 3-D work and added shadows to m...

While digital technology revolutionizes the film industry, the film industry’s job market is also revolutionizing. The few jobs lost from taking a fall out a window, or walking down a street will be replaced by business and technology jobs related to digital film. New jobs will arise from switching to a digital format. The changes spurred by digital film technology and digital projection are mostly positive. This transition will be a benefit to Hollywood, and the mainstream business world.

The intermix of a great literary work into a modern production is not a new concept, but the use of digital enhancement to carry a theme was unheard of prior to the making of this film. Both Director of Photography Roger Deakens, and Business Development Director Sarah Priestnall from Kodak, helped to explain that the digital process used is the modification of the film at the pixel level, in which the film is digitized frame by frame and each frame is color matched to allow for manipulation. The mastering process was done in the film developing...

Therefore, after US military intervention, came the Marshall Plan that aided war-torn Europe with money in order to defeat American fears of it turning to Communism. The alliances were necessary for the improvement of the American vision for the future, in acting as political (democracy) and trade partners. Similar was the Truman Doctrine, an example of America modifying the political alignment of the world which was Europe, to make state of affairs helpful for itself to flourish, this is seen as the formation of Americas political
In the article “On Being an Atheist” by H. J McCloskey, he tried to reason why atheism is a much more comfortable belief then Christianity. It would seem as if McCloskey grounds for his belief has little to no proof. McCloskey argues that his indisputable view given by the cosmological proof, that talks about God being perfect and powerful cannot help being solved the problem about the existence of God. Although he believes that the proofs do not provide a valid proof for the existence of God, but there is a need to provide the causes of all the existence things in the world. Mr. McCloskey reasoned against three theistic proofs, the cosmological argument, theological argument and the argument from design. These three arguments that he
The existence of God has been a topic of controversy for centuries. In 1968, the article “On being an Atheist”, was written by H.J. McCloskey discussing his personal views and reasons, as an atheist, for not believing in the existence of God. McCloskey attempts to discredit the arguments for the existence of God. In doing so, he critiques the cosmological and teleological arguments as well as discusses the presence of evil and suffering in order to show sufficient evidence to reject the belief in God.
Computer generated imagery has evolved and spread throughout cinematography and the film world like wildfire. Although computer generated imagery offers countless creative opportunities, the art form of special effects makeup should be practiced and preserved, as just that- an art form. Most people have begun to describe special effects makeup as anachronistic. Considering how long special effects makeup has been around, people are convinced that its existence is coming to an end.
Workers of the Western film exerted all their efforts to launch it quintessentially with a touch of how the old day movies were released. They provided special projectors, equipments and human operators that specialized in showing movies in the old fashion way.
Following the Declaration of Independence, the objective was to create a self-governing nation without forming any alliances. In other words, America sought an unlimited independence while forming an efficient political, social, and economical foundational pillars. After a long period of dictatorship by the British government, the American Greatness represented a fight for the independence and a process of building the most optimal nation without forming alliances or getting involved in the international issues. Simply, America wanted to isolate itself from all the European “noise” and work on becoming the best version of itself. Contrary to this, FDR’s in the State of the Union Address and the Truman Doctrine represent America as a world’s democratic leader that utilized its financial and military resources to help beat communism in the rest of the world. Communism represented the ultimate evil and America, as a high-power country, felt responsible for eliminating this dangerous threat and maintaining the world’s freedom and peace. In an attempt to do so, America provided a significant financial support and made alliances with other countries who were oppressed by communism. The fight against communism changed the idea of the American Greatness as it put America at the center of the world stage and as the primary democratic leader of many allies in a mutual fight against communist oppression. In 1776, America was a growing nation with the main objective of becoming stronger and isolating itself from the issues in the rest of the world. However, the spread of communism in 1950 and even later compelled America to put international interest in front of the national interest by having allies and providing support and resources to the same allies in the mutual fight against

In 1988, the live action and animation hybrid “Who Framed Roger Rabbit” introduced a whole new way of making animation movies (Elkins, 2003). The three dimensional rendering and the interaction between live actors, animated figures and environment was revolutionary at that time (Elkins, 2003). Three years later, in 1991, “Beauty and the Beast” was an Oscar nominee for best picture, which showed how popular this genre had become (Elkins, 2003). Since then, rapid technological changes have improved the quality of animation movies. The use of computers sat a new standard for animating, with the first computer animated feature released less than ten years ago (DreamWorks, 2004). This essay will explore the impact new technology has had on animation movies. It will contain examples of web sites that illustrate and explain to what extent the new technology has impacted this genre. First, Pixar studio’s way of working with animations is described, followed by DreamWorks creation of Shrek 2. Then, WarnerBros’ approach to the hybrid movie Scooby-Doo 2 is explained. Following is the impact the new technology has had on Fox and Blue Sky Studios work. The conclusion of the essay is in the last paragraph. Surprisingly, some of the techniques used in the making of “Who Framed Roger Rabbit” is still used today, like the creation of “Gollum” in “The Lord of the Rings” (Elkins, 2003). However, there have been major advances in the level of sophistication due to the new technology.
The large variety of insurgent movements around the world has demonstrated that each of them belong its identifiable roots. Furthermore, instead of similar patterns in tactics, techniques and/or procedures used to achieve their ultimate goal, insurgencies are unique depending of their nature. This is the reason why each insurgency presents a dissimilar group of characteristic or principles that identify them. As a matter of fact, those characteristics should be managed with circumspection by any insurgency. The insurgent success or failure may depend of the manner as the organisation manages such important aspects. This work will study the Philippine ‘Hukbalahap Rebellion’ which provides interesting patterns of inadequate development of key characteristics proper of an insurgent movement. Furthermore, the main purpose on this paper is to provide in a critical manner an analysis of three significant characteristics of insurgencies. By analysing firstly the purpose and motivation, secondly the popular support, and finally the leadership and recruitment exercised in this egalitarian insurgency, this work will bring comprehensive arguments to understand the vitality of those characteristics.
Offering the unique ability to visually and audibly convey a story, films remain a cornerstone in modern society. Combined with a viewer’s desire to escape the everyday parameters of life, and the excitement of enthralling themselves deep into another world, many people enjoy what films stand to offer. With the rising popularity of films across the world, the amount of film makers increases every day. Many technological innovations mark the advancement of film making, but the essential process remains the same. Pre-production accounts for everything taken place before any shooting occurs, followed by the actual production of the film, post-production will then consist of piecing the film together, and finally the film must reach an audience. Each step of this process contributes to the final product, and does so in a unique right. The process of film making will now start chronologically, stemming from the idea of the story, producing that story into a film, editing that footage together, and finally delivering that story to its viewers.
The Role of Computer Generated Imagery in the Film Industry Computer Generated Imagery is the special effects used in motion pictures to create a visual depiction of an illusion that can not be easily created in real life. Directors of major motion pictures have been using these technologies since the early days of the personal computer. Early on, when and special effects were in their beginning stages, it was difficult to make efficient and effective effects that are well accepted by the movie critics and the general public. An evolution of special effects and the introduction of computerized animation brought the standards for movie effects to a higher level. The development of new methods of Computer Generated Imagery for less money and more effective than in the past has allowed even fairly low budget movies to incorporate such technology.
