Determinism states “for every result, effect, and event that occurs in reality, a cause or causes exist” (Thiroux, p.91). In other words outside and uncontrolled forces have “determined” what a person is therefore we can only expect them to act within their own self-interest. There are different forms of determinism.
Predestination or Religious Determinism centers on an omnipotent supernatural being that has predetermined the past, present, and future of all things. This outside force beyond a person’s control has determined the events and reactions of one’s life. In essence, this being is responsible for you acting moral or immoral.

Free will allows man to resist or align with whatever we choose in life. In religion man can chose salvation or evil at their determination and nothing is pre-ordained.
Free will and Determination are incompatible. Determination is destroyed daily by constant examples in direct conflict with the philosophy. In every various cause of scientific determination there are people who choose to take the opposite path that others have taken. These examples include children from abusive homes grow up and some never react in anger towards their own children, while others abuse their own children like they were. Some poor people choose crime to get ahead, while others become law enforcement.
Our existence is pure free will. Human biology teaches us that a sperm will swim to fertilize and egg. The course and objective are known the victor is the more determined. Once fertilized the egg starts to develop it is by pure will and absence of thought. There are no instructions sent to this new life it grows by will. Two separate objects meet and form life. So each person has chosen to live and was controlled by our will. There can be argument about not choosing sex, I haven’t studied the entire subject enough to know.
